the Transamerica Pyramid was very controversial when it was built 55 years ago.
the West continues to have a choice: are we going to build more monuments? more homes? more stuff? or will we become increasingly expensive and irrelevant...
Of course, in Virginia voters specifically said they wanted the redrawn maps, while Florida voters specifically said they didn't, so the courts will overrule the voters in both states because judicial activism is very bad unless it benefits Republicans.
Nick Cave responding to a grieving mother who worries that she forsaw, or perhaps even willed, the death of her young child is one of the most beautiful things you will read today.
@LizzieZ2024 You are deeply asocial and worried about stuff that isn't real. You've convinced yourself that a bunch of stuff is happening that isn't actually happening, and you are using this paranoid fantasy to justify ruining not only other people's lives, but ultimately your own as well.
On a single Saturday in September:
--Trump instructed his AG to go after specific political enemies.
--We learned that his DOJ ended an investigation into his border czar, who was caught on camera taking a $50k cash bribe.
--His Pentagon top brass threatened to expel journalists who report info not cleared by them.
--His WH spoke to a shady deal that will see TikTok in the hands of a consortium of GOP mega-donors.
--Trump threatened "bad things" if we don't re-take Bagram AFB.
--His most senior counterterrorism official is in a Twitter spat with Laura Loomer.

It's one thing for general interest writers and pundits to have a position on Charlie Kirk's "contribution" to public life, but imo, his actual influence was to undermine academic life by promoting an ugly and idiotic form of inquiry aimed at college kids in a fucked up way.
the obvious elephant in the room is that if Tyler Robinson had shot a dozen random students in the crowd Republicans wouldn't even pretend to give a fuck
I’m a bit surprised by the number of seemingly sensible people that fell for the ‘change my mind’ pretense of campus political debates and imagine these events as some kind of good-faith forum for engaging with different political views
What is there to say anymore? Approximately 15 minutes after bombing Nasser Hospital, the genocidal regime bombs it again, live on air, killing the rescue workers and reporters who'd gone to the location.
There’s schools in New Mexico open 4 days a week bc they can’t afford Friday. Schools in Baltimore close when it’s too hot bc they cant afford AC. In whole counties in South Dakota people die a decade before everyone else. But there’s always money for bombs. Alway money for bombs
