@NorthTXKate Don’t sleep on those gas station food stops. There’s one in Winters, TX that is the best food around. It’s always at the perfect stop on one of our regular drives and we plan on it now. Have encountered several good ones over the years.
@GeraldoRivera This is exactly what she was supposed to do as the child of E-2 visa holders. Every 2 years at visa renewal the parents testify that they are not seeking permanent residence in the US. And as the child is no longer a minor, she goes back to her own country.
@TmthyPatrick@eyes_snake32436@nytopinion “All E-2 nonimmigrants, however, must maintain an intention to depart the United States when their status expires or is terminated.”
Sounds like she did exactly what she was supposed to do then.
@bluewdrift “Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Frost (1923)
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
@IStabAtThee316@Oilfield_Rando They don’t usually sub out structural to a firm like that. Contractor may have questionable subs that have their own subs, etc.
@JohnJBlatchford@ostopezdo In the original building if a column buckled the beams/columns around it are taking that load so it doesn’t collapse. (As designed.) But they may well be deflecting and bending beyond being able to be used again without some serious retrofit. Not as simple as replacing 2 columns.
@AndyM1928@_patient_man The columns neighboring the collapsed column on the original floor are probably compromised too. Their safety factor is working but I’m sure the concrete is cracked and the steel deformed taking all that extra load.
