If you have an interest in BioID and/or labelling strategies (in particular iTRAQ), why not come along to today's workshop?
Thanks @JDHL18 for organising!
We're having a #Proteomics workshop for @FBMH_UoM researchers.
The 1st one will be 1-4pm Wednesday 19th September in B.4208 The Michael Smith Building. We have some excellent talks on Proximity-based (Bio-ID) proteomics and iTRAQ-based quantitative proteomics. @BioMS_ManUni
A successful day! After a long spell of Mascot running on a single computer, we have finally managed to resolve the issues and Mascot is now running again on 3 distributed computers. #fastersearches#normalserviceresumed (@jselley)
@guijacquemet @JDHL18 As @ronanocualain said, identification is one issue, but quantitative analysis of a sample is different. At the end of the day, we applaud having the courage to use 10 year out-of-date trypsin on your samples - don't think we would have tried that 😀
@guijacquemet @JDHL18 To answer your question more directly: we use a lot of trypsin so shelf life isn't usually an issue. Sigma have good details about storage. The question is the definition of "works". Instruments are so sensitive that maybe doing nothing to proteins would still yield peptides. ...
@JDHL18@ProteomeXchange Thanks Jon! We think this is very current, not just in terms of quantification, but for a variety of applications. We've bought in some standards to investigate further (when we get time) but we'll take a look at this as well.
We've finally got registration open for @protmethforum (#PMF2018) conference that is to be held at Chancellors in Manchester in June. You can register at https://t.co/WXVa3gCXWn.
Do you know about analysing samples of small molecules with Mass Spec's? Want to join a dynamic team that works to assist and forward cutting-edge research? Apply for this job with us: https://t.co/3xnIgu9eY9
#PMF2018 (@protmethforum) is coming to Manchester in June. Are you interested in what protein mass spectrometry can do for you and your research? Why not attend PMF, find out more and make some contacts in the industry.
Writing some terms and conditions, and a fair usage policy, for using the Data Analysis PCs. What issues have you experienced when using shared computers?
We're involved in organising this! Needless to say, we're really looking forward to it - many exciting things in the planning. More details will follow on the PMF website. Registration will start in the new year! https://t.co/Df2Je9tPx1
A quick pre-Christmas note to let you know that PMF 2018 has been booked and will be held on the 20th and 21st June at the Chancellor's Hotel, Manchester. Further details will be announced on our website and here via Twitter as they become available.
