September in the Biosphere 🌐
- Open Science Index: We launched a searchable directory with 6,720 scientific resources.
- Launchpad: We added credit-card wallet funding through Privy.
- New Bio website: We revamped our website, bringing BIOS, OpenLabs, Buildspace, Launchpad and Biofy together in one place.
- PeptAI: Selected for Track 2 of the Adaptyv Bio × Anthropic Protein Design Competition.
- NeuroLab Ignition Sale: The sale closed 2.2× oversubscribed, with more than 442K USDC committed by over 650 participants. NDT reward claims for veBIO stakers are now live on https://t.co/Pdf20lmFSy. We also refunded all BioXP spent on the Ignition Sale.

🧪 Lab update from @anagenxyz
They're preparing a Phase 1 PK study for MINX (vs standard 5 mg oral minoxidil), shipping the first topical diazoxide orders, and advancing several other programs(TWIST1, FOWLER imaging model, and more).

Decentralized science is coming to Mumbai 🇮🇳
The Bio community is bringing researchers, founders and builders together for an afternoon of DeSci + AI with the first live demo of our lab robot, Robios.
Join us November 5 on the same grounds as @EFDevcon.

Before you build on a research tool, follow its source.
Bio’s OpenLabs Index brings scientific software, models and datasets into one directory, with licence and activity signals to help you investigate.
Research ideas deserve a place to develop before they’re ready for a paper.
OpenLabs (@openlabsbio) gives researchers a place to share a hypothesis and document what they find as they investigate it.
Explore what others are working on, or bring your own question.
Researchers need more ways to get their work funded.
Bio helps them develop their ideas and find people who want to back them.
OpenLabs (@openlabsbio) connects researchers with early support. Buildspace helps teams prepare to raise through the Bio launchpad, where communities can fund research they want to see happen.
More than $1T a year funds scientific R&D.
It often flows through grant systems built decades ago. Streamline the funding rails and dollars move faster and go further.
Upgrading just 1% of that capital gets $10B to researchers faster and with less friction.
Researchers need to know what an agent contributed and be able to check its work before taking it further.
On OpenLabs (@openlabsbio), humans and agents can contribute to research challenges with defined requirements and a named reviewer. That gives the work a specific question to answer and someone responsible for assessing it.
Our colleagues at @Molecule_sci explain how they’re handling access and contribution records within a lab with the researcher in control.
Researchers at @GoogleDeepMind, expect that as routine research is automated, the human scientist becomes "the principal, underwriting the actions of AI delegates". That depends on the scientist controlling what each agent may access and seeing what it did.
A Molecule Lab lets one researcher give each AI agent access to its data for a set period, revocable at any point, with every grant and every contribution logged against its author, including AI agents. PeptAI (@peptai_) already works this way, with an AI agent running peptide research under a human lead and reporting through its Lab.
September’s research updates from across the Bio ecosystem are here.
From @anagenxyz (HairDAO)'s early human pilot of slow-release minoxidil to @peptai_'s protein design competition entry, catch up on the work teams are working on↓
Have a peptide or protein design project in mind?
We’re looking to partner with researchers who bring deep biological expertise to take projects from computational design to wet lab validation.

Being able to test a biological hypothesis digitally before committing to a lab experiment would change how we do science.
If these models become reliable enough, researchers could explore more possibilities and use the predictions to decide which experiments to run next.
Making those datasets open matters. A team working on a different disease can build on them, ask questions the original researchers never considered, and share what they find.
We're entering a new era of biology.
Today, Isomorphic Labs joins the Virtual Biology Initiative (VBI) as a founding member.
We are helping build an open resource for the global research community to accelerate how we understand and treat disease.

Participating in launches with 0 XP (no minimum BioXP required) is possible and this is stated clearly in our public docs:
- Launcher page (https://t.co/hq7PwQetr3):
“Pledge BioXP (optional): You can optionally pledge BioXP… No minimum BioXP required to participate. If you commit USDC without pledging any BioXP, you are treated as having pledged 1 BioXP, the lowest priority weight. If a sale concludes at or below the target, allocations are determined by USDC contributions alone. BioXP only affects allocation when a sale is oversubscribed.”
- BioXP page (https://t.co/84yWdM1DBv):
“Open Launchpad: Ignition Sales are open to anyone with USDC. There is no BioXP gate to participate. … USDC only → still eligible to participate, but counted as having pledged 1 BioXP.”
- Join Ignition Sales / Fund guide (https://t.co/FCpXj51CZG):
“BioXP is not required to participate in an Ignition Sale. Anyone with USDC can contribute. … Users who commit USDC without pledging any BioXP are treated as having pledged 1 BioXP (lowest priority weight).”
- No XP refunds (for successful launches)
This is documented on the Join Ignition Sales / Fund guide (https://t.co/FCpXj51CZG):
“There are no refunds for overspent BioXP. If the launch succeeds, your pledged BioXP are either used up for the allocation or burnt.”
In addition to our docs, this is also mentioned in our sale posts: https://t.co/kCAP0IyCKx
Launch details
The NDT sale runs for 2 weeks.
To qualify for an allocation, pledge USDC and optionally BioXP to the sale.
• Initial Raise: $200K
• Starting FDV: $3M
• Initial Project Funding: $100K
• Participant Vesting: 100% unlocked at claim with no cliff, no linear vest
• BIO stakers (veBIO holders): 20% allocated with a 6-month linear vesting claimable at any time. At the time of claim, any tokens that have not yet vested are forfeited, with 20% vested at TGE
• 6.67% allocated to the Ignition Sale
BioXP Refund Update
All BioXP spent in the NeuroLab Ignition Sale has been refunded to every participant including those who purchased instant BioXP.
Refunds are automatic. No action is needed. Check your transaction history on the BioXP page: https://t.co/uprZE58SRp
A full list of BioXP pledges and their resulting allocations will be available on the sale page shortly.
We're working closely with the NeuroLab team to support the project's long-term research and commercial development. Stay tuned for further updates.
Crypto is a dark forest. That is clear to all serious participants. We have priorities that address the issues that were observed in this launch:
- fix tokenomics
- incentivize capital formation, don't incentivize speculation
- smart contract logic > trust/promises (e.g. no fully liquid allocations to project/advisors)
- give projects an ecosystem to work and form an aligned community - before any token launch
- align scientific process with investor time-horizons
Onwards.
A quick refresher on how the USDC raised in the sale is allocated:
• Initial raise: $200K
• 50% ($100K) went directly to NeuroLab to fund their research
• 50% ($100K) went into the LP
• Trading fees generated by the LP are split 70% to NeuroLab and 30% to Bio Protocol
