Is there an analogy to be drawn between decriminalising women who end their own pregnancies and decriminalising suicide? In both cases assistance remains a criminalised. Significant differences is the act, motivation etc.
@garycox01@Docstockk So, either not a criteria of personhood or pigs are also persons? All that is required for capacity to feel and suffer is sentience. Don’t need personhood for that. I don’t think Singer has much of to do with any particular concept of personhood. He recognises diff. capacities.
If the same thinking applies to multi millionaires, say those with half a billion, then it would indeed seem there is something wrong with billionaires.
My take on the ethics of billionaires:
- Making billions of dollars: morally fine (sometimes bad, often good)
- Keeping billions of dollars: morally bad (children are dying yo)
- Giving away billions of dollars: morally awesome (you save many people, you deserve much praise)
