@ChrisRMcGuire If the chips stay outside China and commercial workloads stay on the American tech stack, that’s not the same national security problem as diversion. Treating the two as identical just creates more room for Huawei.
@KeszZoltan This is the bit Europe should actually care about. You can talk about “AI sovereignty” all day, but being able to download a model, run it locally and build on top of it is about as sovereign as it gets.
@rohanpaul_ai Customer checks, sure. But if the policy basically says Chinese firms can’t use US compute anywhere, they’re not going to stop training models. They’ll just have another reason to move onto Huawei. That seems like a pretty important downside to think through.
