Next week (21 April) on Conservation Conversations, we're joined by Josh Wilson, a PhD student from the UK talking about how climate change is expected to impact the future distributions of penguins in Antarctica and the Southern
Ocean.
Healthy wetlands mean cleaner water, resilience to climactic changes, and thriving biodiversity for people and wildlife alike. With your support, we can continue and expand this work! Help us share this message, and share the beauty of wetlands and the birds they are home to.
Happy World Wetlands Day! 🌿💧
This week we celebrate these ecosystems that do so much to keep our planet healthy: they store carbon, filter water, prevent floods, and support incredible biodiversity, including one of the world's rarest birds: the White-winged Flufftail!
We are guided by birds like the White-winged Flufftail: through them we can learn where wetlands are thriving, or where they are under pressure. By working with communities across South Africa, we can help keep wetlands healthy.
Happy World Wetlands Day! 🍃
Did you know that wetlands are some of South Africa’s hardest-working ecosystems? From filtering polluted water to protecting communities from floods and supporting rich biodiversity, these natural spaces play a vital role in our everyday lives.
Help your learners and children become eco-conscious by exploring the benefits of wetlands through our “WOW! The Wonders of Wetlands” activity in the "Be a Wetland Warrior" Activity Book.

Let’s inspire the next generation to protect our wetlands.

@mattthesparrow Hi Matt, this is really exciting. BirdLife South Africa has a European Roller monitoring project where we colour-ring and track European Rollers from South Africa. We'd be keen to collaborate on the ringing efforts - happy to share colour-rings with you.
@mattthesparrow Being at the tail end of their migration, we don't get to see much of their migration behaviour. Excitingly, we've recently had a few reports of European Rollers arriving in South Africa. We'll be ringing again between January-March.
@mattthesparrow I'm assuming you were with NatureKenya, as I had spoken to Gacheru about keeping an eye out for two tagged European Rollers who are still northeast of Tsavo East. Do they travel in flocks?
We're greatful for their generous a Lucky Draw prize of a four night stay for four people in Pafuri, worth R64,000! For more details, and to register, visit https://t.co/aS8sbnSTo5 Please note that the BirdLasser links are not yet live, but this does not affect registration.
This one's for the birders!
