Now is the time for unity, discipline and total mobilisation.

Every preparatory programme must be carried out meticulously. Every leader must remain fully focused, visible and active on the ground. Members must be kept alert, mobilised and ready for action.

No complacency. No dilution. No looking back.

Our strength will be seen in our preparedness, our unity and our presence on the ground.

The demand for a 5 Day Work Week in banks is not new. It already stands agreed upon in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024. What remains is its long-pending implementation.

At the same time, the unilateral and discriminatory PLI system must be abolished and replaced with a fair, transparent and inclusive framework for all employees, recognising the collective effort behind every institution’s performance.

Hardworking bank employees are not asking for privilege. They are asking for implementation of an agreement and equality in reward.

A motivated banking workforce strengthens Indian banking and the nation.

A better banking experience starts with a sustainable workweek. With acute staff shortages and mounting stress, 5-day banking is about public service and employee well-being, not a privilege.
UFBU has been pressing since 2015; IBA has already recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024) records the Saturday holiday clause, pending approvals/clearances.
Honour what’s on record. Approve all Saturdays off.

A rested workforce serves the public better. With staff shortages and rising stress, 5-day banking is a service-quality issue, not a “perk.” UFBU has pursued this since 2015; IBA has recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and it’s included in the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024), pending clearances.
