@IRFANULLAH919@Gondonar@the77bit@0xfanfaron I assume English is your second language so no shade on you ๐ the sentence 'unless itโs with a team building an actual game, with real craft behind it, as 77-Bit had' means 77-Bit was a real team making a real game and that is the minimum standard I would work for.
Thank you, that means a lot.
Iโm open to serious creative work, but if 77-Bit can't seek funding for a backend rebuild, I donโt think I can stay in Web3 unless itโs with a team building an actual game, with real craft behind it, as 77-Bit had.
I came from the game industry before COVID shut my studio down in 2022. My peers here in Tokyo refused to join Web3 because they saw it as the worst parts of mobile gaming multiplied by flipped assets, speculation, Skinner box trash, and empty hype.
If there were serious teams building actual games with real art, music, direction, and care, Iโd be open to hearing about them.
Just to throw the correct numbers from the backend Devs out there: Beta ran for 2 weeks and cost ~$45,000 due to core inefficiency/brute forcing Nakama problems that the Nakama Devs themselves didn't flag in their own documentation. The current stack can run the same 2 week Beta for $15,000, but that is still far too expensive for global MMO scaling. This can be fixed but requires moving to self-hosting and a refactor, and to refactor there needs to be funds to pay the backend developers.
@cryptonator91 I was an employee and had nothing to do with the decisions you're talking about. I poured my life into the art, music, story and gameplay under restrictions I had no say over, for one-third of my salary. If you want to talk about things I actually controlled, please go ahead.
I'm thankful that some of that resonated with you. I was doing that mostly for boomers like myself. Trying to remember the times before everything became mass-produced slop. When games, films and music were still art and 90% of everything wasn't garbage. I tried as hard as I could in a situation where I only controlled the art, music, gameplay and story.
@whenlamboBU Watching you play the game and cracking jokes are some of the best memories I have from this whole experience ๐ค Thanks for giving me something positive and always just being yourself about everything. I hate Web3, but you and a tiny handful of other guys were real.
@katexbt@the77bit False. 'Ragnarok Meta' was the original name of 77-Bit before Gravity (Ragnarok Online) claimed ownership and took down the OS collection.
@dte_zero Pure coincidence... the fact Han Solo is in the corner, in carbonite, and it says 'Han Shot First' in the other corner, and the bartender bot is a Millennium Falcon etc etc
Definitely has nothing to do with Star Wars ๐ฆ
