After a few years of supervising PhD students I realise I try to figure out two things in each meeting:

1. How can I help the student
2. How can I make them smile & laugh

Sometimes achieving outcome 2 is also the way to achieving outcome 1

1. Failed to finish 3 papers ❌📄
2. Felt so behind on things I procrastinated by trying to teach my cat to fist pump...he still can't 🐱👊❌

But, I also:
3. Saw just how resilient phd students are (& continue to be)👩‍🎓 ✅
4. Got a signed book by @sarapascoe ✅
