Some context on SatoshiVM:

The website says it’s a decentralized, ZK-Rollup Layer 2. It’s on mainnet. Users can deposit Bitcoin onto SatoshiVM.

A couple of things:

- It's built on a fork of Frontier which makes substrate chains EVM-compatible (this widely known)
- It looks like there’s four or five active validators proposing blocks and such
- You can bridge over via a third party, Bool Network
- Audit report says the BTCBridge contract on SatoshiVM is upgradeable by a single EOA account
- Node software is not source-viewable (anymore?) as far as I can tell
- The token is an ERC-20 on Ethereum
- Nothing available saying it posts any data to Bitcoin. Roadmap says it's adding a DA layer, but doesn't specifically say Bitcoin
- Claims to use BitVM. No repos live on this either

I’ve checked the repo a few times and believe the node implementation was there, but was taken down. Nonetheless, not currently viewable.

I don’t see anything to make this a decentralized zk-rollup on Bitcoin. The token is also an ERC-20, which is a red flag in my opinion.

We weren't going to cover it due to some of the concerns, but I see it included in a lot of research-esque marketing materials.

So just confirming our findings, that we are monitoring this, but not making it accessible via the @BitcoinLayers home page.

We're excited for Bitcoin scaling as well 🙂

But unfortunately, a lot of these ecosystem maps lump honest projects in with some shady stuff.

For example, this map features one confirmed rugpull and a few other seemingly abandoned projects post their token launches.
