@AudubonPoe@theMakarioz As a licensed medical professional, I can assure you, that endoscopic procedures of the lower GI never happen while standing upright and bending over. Never ever. Evidently, you’re referring to sodemy, an anal activity with which you must be more familiar, and thus confused.
@ShamashAran@AeonCoin $3k deductible used to be the norm. Until companies started offering two tiers-the $240 bi-weekly $3k deductible plan & the and $150 bi-weekly for a $6500 deductible, as the new baseline. In basically 1-2 years, working at a “good” hospital as an RN, covering myself & one child.
@AudubonPoe@theMakarioz FAA rules require everyone to be in their assigned seat prior to take off. The actual humans have to match the flight manifest seat assignments. That’s why.
You have noticed it. ChatGPT feels dumber than it used to. Your prompts that worked six months ago produce worse results now. The writing sounds flatter. The ideas sound safer. The internet itself feels like it is shrinking. Every article reads the same. Every email sounds the same. Every answer sounds like it was written by the same voice.
You thought it was you. It is not you.
Researchers at Oxford and Cambridge published a paper in Nature proving what is happening. They call it Model Collapse.
Here is the mechanism in one sentence. AI trained on AI-generated data gets dumber every generation until it forgets what real human data looked like.
The internet is filling with AI-generated content. Blog posts. Articles. Reviews. Comments. Social media. AI companies scrape the internet to train the next generation of models. Which means the next generation of AI is being trained on the output of the current generation.
Each cycle loses information. Not randomly. It loses the rarest, most unusual, most creative parts first. The researchers call these the "tails of the distribution." The weird ideas. The unexpected perspectives. The things that made the internet feel human. Those disappear first.
What remains is the average. The safe. The expected. The bland.
Then the next generation trains on that. And loses more. And the next generation trains on that. And loses more. The researchers proved this is not a slow decline. Major degradation happens within just a few iterations. Even when some of the original human data is preserved.
They tested it on large language models. On image generators. On statistical models. The pattern was the same every time. The output converges toward a narrow, flattened version of reality that looks nothing like the original data.
The lead researcher put it plainly. "Large language models are like fire. A useful tool. But one that pollutes the environment."
The pollution is invisible. You cannot see which sentence on the internet was written by a human and which was written by AI. Neither can the AI that is about to train on it. And once the tails are gone, they do not come back. The damage is irreversible.
This is not a prediction anymore. It is a diagnosis.
The internet you grew up on was built by humans writing things no algorithm would have written. Strange, personal, imperfect, alive. That internet is being diluted. One generation of AI at a time. And the models trained on what remains are learning a smaller and smaller version of the world.
Model Collapse is not a technical problem. It is a cultural one. The thing that made the internet worth reading is the thing that disappears first.
@VoicesUnheard I kinda like that. By now Walmart, Target, etc all know I’m cheap AF and have zero brand or category loyalty and will set the item down and walk if the cost per unit (oz, piece, ml, etc) is too high. Only impulse buys I ever make, are for things with yellow tags in the clearance.
@vicsonham@TheMercianNews What a low IQ victim mentality response. No one was even referring to YOU, until you decided to make it about you. Perhaps because you identify as intellectually deficient?
@ihtesham2005 What flavor? Have they done side by sides with flavorless gum, bubble gum flavor, and mint? Was the gum in the original experiment unflavored? Mint can be stimulating, and the dopamine hit from sweet-minty could have confounding effects.
Someone said being neurodivergent means that no one listens to you because you're right too far in advance and then, when it's finally come to fruition, the common law statute of limitations for remembering what someone else said a while ago has been surpassed so we don't even get to be told we were right. it's deeply unsatisfying
@elonmusk Even IF he was being racist and incited anger in the man. Even if he’d stabbed the man first while screaming racist rants…Police have a duty to render aid. Full stop. That’s the crux of the issue.
Farmers have figured out that the cheapest pesticide is a strip of flowers.
When you plant wildflowers through a crop field, not just around the edge but in strips running through the middle, you get ladybugs, lacewings, hoverflies, and parasitic wasps living in the field instead of visiting it.
They eat the aphids, the caterpillars, and the mites for free, all summer long.
In controlled trials, fields with tailored flower strips had leaf-beetle numbers 40 to 50% lower and crop damage cut by around 60%, enough to drop below the threshold where spraying was even considered worth it.
The flowers attract a standing army to our fields.
We spent decades engineering chemicals to kill the insects eating the crop, when the insects that eat those insects would have worked for the price of seed.
🇬🇧 The Silver Swan Automaton has been running flawlessly for 250 years on nothing but mainsprings and brass gears.
Built in 1773 to last forever, and it did exactly that. We've somehow gone backwards.
@Ringo6@jmontforttx No human actually believes this. Either “Stuart” is a paid op, and will just say whatever narriative he’s shilling for clown bux that day, or it’s just an algo at a bot farm trying to shape the conversation toward special interest agendas-to the detriment of real peoples lives.
@Sonsofuhtred@GigglingGanon Personally, I agree with your personal feelings and opinions about keeping these monsters as pets.
That said, the state was demonstrably 1000% wrong in their judgement and enforcement, and government needs to he held fully responsible every time they F up someone’s life.
@beyoncegarden Halsey is so massively talented, she’s beautiful, and in per prime, writes her own stuff…but she’s sidelined. It’s not about sales, that’s the excuse. Sales only matter because she hasn’t joined the “club”, doing MKU stuff.
