BITTY — THE BITCOIN MASCOT I’ve been digging into Bitty for a little while now and honestly the deeper I go the more interesting the whole thing gets. At first glance it’s easy to look at it and say “another meme coin” and move on. I get that. There’s thousands of them. But the more I looked into Bitty, the less I cared about the actual token and the more I started looking at the character and the history behind it. That’s really the whole reason I’m writing this. I’m not here to tell anyone this is going to 10x, 50x or 100x. Nobody knows that. Meme coins can go up like crazy and then get smoked just as fast. I’m just sharing why I think the Bitty story is worth actually researching instead of writing it off immediately. BITCOIN IS MORE THAN JUST BTC Bitcoin started as a decentralized monetary network, but over the years it became a culture too. HODL. Laser eyes. The orange ₿. 21 million. The halving. “Not your keys, not your coins.” “Don’t trust, verify.” Satoshi. Bitcoin Pizza Day. There’s a whole language around Bitcoin now. None of that is actually part of the Bitcoin code, but it’s become part of what people associate with Bitcoin. And that’s what got me thinking. Almost every major internet culture eventually gets some kind of recognizable character or mascot. Linux has Tux. Reddit has Snoo. Microsoft has Clippy SpaceX has Shrub the hedgehog There are countless examples where a character ends up representing something much bigger than the character itself. Ever wondered which character represents the backbone of decentralized cryptocurrency- Bitcoin? Who’s the character? That’s where Bitty comes in. SO WHO IS BITTY? The Bitty story goes back to 2015, when the playful character was originally created as a Bitcoin mascot. Then it basically disappeared. Crypto changed a lot between 2015 and today. Thousands of projects came and went, new narratives took over, and most of the early stuff was forgotten. Bitty was one of those things with the most significance that disappeared into the background. Then years later the character resurfaced and people started building around it again. The timeline is basically: 2015 — Bitty is born 2015-2024 Bitty is nowhere to be found 2025 — Bitty returns Obviously I’m not saying “the website https://t.co/WTLVDmV9YW says it so it must be true.” The character seen on the the webs it’s landing page somehow shows how deeply the mascot’s cultural significance has been tied with Bitcoin. That’s not how you should research anything in crypto. But that’s also why I think it’s worth digging into. The character apparently existed before the current token. And that matters. Most meme coins start with a token and then somebody comes up with a character and some lore afterwards. With Bitty, the story is basically the opposite. The character came first. The token came later. That’s a much more interesting starting point imo. THE BITCOIN CONNECTION There’s also the history of Bitty being associated with the broader Bitcoin ecosystem, including its appearance around https://t.co/WTLVDmV9YW. To be clear, I’m not saying https://t.co/WTLVDmV9YW created Bitty or endorses the current token. It doesn’t mean Bitcoin has anything to do with the token either. That’s obviously an important distinction. What I find interesting is simply that the character has a connection to Bitcoin that predates the current meme coin. That’s a lot different than someone launching a random Bitcoin dog today, making a website and saying “this is the Bitcoin mascot.” The question becomes whether Bitty can actually become recognizable enough that people start associating the character with Bitcoin naturally. And that’s something you can’t really manufacture overnight. The goated legend bitty shall be brought back to fame on Robinhood chain.
