Bitwala

Crypto rebuilt right.

Own your crypto, spend it anywhere Visa is accepted. No seed phrase anxiety. Your keys stay yours. Built in Berlin since 2014.

A year of "the EU is coming for your self-hosted wallet" posts. So we read the actual regulation.

The heavy requirements sit on transfers between exchanges, and they apply from the first euro. Transfers to your own wallet follow different, lighter rules.

Next week, we'll send Bitcoin to everyone who joined Bitwala in July, covering every fee they paid us.

Trades, card orders, card payments, recurring buys. You name it, we refund it.

Download the app, start using it, and you're in.

Fee-Free Month ends Friday, 31 July. Whether you're in the refund batch gets decided this week.

Bear market, you need cash. Do you sell your Bitcoin?

Selling costs you the recovery. Borrowing costs you interest.

We debated this at @BerBlockWeek with https://t.co/Z0NP75oaH5 and @Greenminingbtc.

Bitwala Loan. 7% flat, coming this year.

[Bitwala @Bitwala]

Fee-Free Month ends 31 July. Join Bitwala before then and every fee you pay this month comes back in Bitcoin, early August.

The maths:

A virtual card costs €0.99. Trades run €1 + 1% each. Paying with crypto on the Card is €0.20 + 1% a time, and an ATM run is €2 + 1%.

By the 31st you might have paid €20, €40, maybe more if you're busy. And all of it comes back to your Wallet in BTC.

Last round. There's no August version.

We made a decision tree. It's not very branchy.

Keep stacking.

Every Bitcoin loan comes down to one question: what happens to your coins if the lender goes under?

Most platforms hold your Bitcoin "for you." You've seen how that ends.

Bitwala Loan puts it in a smart contract, not on our balance sheet. If we vanished tomorrow, your loan and coins carry on without us.

7% flat, up to 50% LTV. Repay anytime, no penalties. And it's honest about risk: if Bitcoin drops far enough you can be liquidated. If it climbs, that's yours.

[Bitwala @Bitwala]

"You got lucky, you bought Bitcoin cheap."

There's no luck in it. Nobody caught the bottom. They just stopped waiting for a better price and bought the one in front of them.

Many people treat buying Bitcoin like a moment to time perfectly. So they wait, and wait, and the moment never sends a calendar invite.

The perfect entry doesn't exist. Starting does.

If you've been putting it off, July's the month to stop. Every fee a new Bitwala user pays comes back in Bitcoin, refunded early August. Trades, card, the lot.

Skip the wait. Start before 31 July.

We started in Berlin. Then it fell apart, and the same team rebuilt the company from five people and took it across Europe.

For three years we were live almost everywhere we operate, absent from the one country that started it all.

This week that changed.

Bitwala is open in Germany, the last of the 30 EEA countries in our regulated footprint. The German-language app is on the way.

What is Bitcoin's most underrated feature?

[Bitwala @Bitwala]

One week into full MiCA enforcement, crypto platforms in the EU now come in two kinds: regulated, or leaving.

Bitwala is MiCA-compliant. Wallet, Trade and Card, one regulated setup, valid across 30 EEA countries.

Crypto rebuilt right, paperwork included.

You've paid fees on every trade since your first sat. Has any platform ever given them back?

Take your time.

In July, every new Bitwala user gets all their fees refunded. Trades, card orders, card payments, recurring buys.

All of it, back in BTC.

We're not doing it again. So.

[Bitwala @Bitwala]

After months of user research, here's our new sell button

[Bitwala @Bitwala]

"Buy the dip." "Don't panic-sell." "Time the market." You've heard it all.

We are once again going to say something you already know (but probably ignored): the people who do well aren't timing shit.

Allow us to suffocate you with boredom: conviction means buying no matter bull or bear. 120k or 60k, doesn't matter. Set a recurring buy and forget it.

The best strategy is one that forgot you exist.

One of our June winners paid for AI subscriptions from a USDC wallet all month. Every payment carries a €0.20 + 1% fee. Earlier this week, all of it came back to their wallet in BTC.

Free Bitcoin for paying bills they were going to pay anyway.

Want in? Fee-Free Month is back for its last round this July.

Every fee on trades, card payments, all of it, refunded in BTC.

For ALL new Bitwala users.

Get the app.
Buy, spend, save.
Your fees come back early August

One thing you'd tell your October 2025 self?

[Bitwala @Bitwala]

We looked at what Bitwala Card users actually spent on in June. Turns out your currency choice says a lot about you.

—BTC: Supermarkets and drugstores. Weekly groceries in Bitcoin. You've explained the halving to at least four people who didn't ask. Your portfolio is down but your fridge is full.

—USDC: Cloud servers and AI tools. You're paying Anthropic in stablecoins and you haven't posted on social media since 2021. You're building something. That's all anyone's getting.

—ETH: Secondhand fashion. You're buying Birkenstocks with ETH and you don't owe anyone an explanation.

—EUR: Gaming and travel. You have a crypto card and you're using it to buy PlayStation games in euros. No judgement.

Which one are you?

T&Cs apply.

[Bitwala @Bitwala]

Fee-Free Month.
May: 1 winner.
June: 10 winners.
July: everyone wins.

Every fee a new Bitwala user pays in July gets refunded in Bitcoin. Trading fees, card fees, the lot.

Whatever you rack up, it comes back in BTC beginning of August.

We're either getting more generous or less sane. Probably both.

Last round. After July, fees are just fees.
