It is in the depths of the heart that the true intensity of the Christian life lies, it is there that God dwells, adored and served by faith, recollection, humility, obedience, simplicity, labour, and love.
~ Bl. Dom Columba Marmion
Today we celebrate the Feast Day of Blessed Columba Marmion, born Joseph Aloysius Marmion (April 1, 1858 - January 30, 1923). Irish monk, and the third abbot of Maredsous Abbey. Beatified by Pope John Paul II on September 3, 2000
Bl Columba Marmion:
"Let us offer God a ceaseless thanksgiving for having made us capable of "having a share in the inheritance of the saints in light". The call to faith is a very great benefit because it contains, in seed-germ, a calling to eternal bliss in the vision of God."
"The soul of every adult is enlightened, at least once, like the Magi, by the star of a calling to eternal salvation. To all, light is given" ~ Bl Columba Marmion, Christ in His Mysteries. #Epiphany#Magi#BaptismOfTheLord#WeddingFeastatCana
"The manifestation of God to men is a mystery so unheard-of that during the early centuries the Church had no feast-day to honour principally the Saviour's birth at Bethlehem; she celebrated the feast-day of 'Divine manifestations' of the person of the Incarnate Word." #Epiphany
These volumes have gathered dust on my shelf for too long - I’m now immersing myself in those riches, truly outstanding reflections on today’s feast of the Baptism of the Lord
"The manifestation of God to men is a mystery so unheard-of that during the early centuries the Church had no feast-day to honour principally the Saviour's birth at Bethlehem; she celebrated the feast-day of 'Divine manifestations' of the person of the Incarnate Word." #Epiphany
"The eternal intent of God, of sending His own Son on earth so as to redeem the human race, lost and blighted by sin..is the masterpiece of His wisdom and His love" ~Bl Columba Marmion (Christ in His Mysteries) #Advent
"Not only is she Immaculate...but the Heavenly Father has showered His gifts upon her..to a measureless extent, one that correlates with the utterly surpassing office and dignity of being Mother of God"
~Bl Columba Marmion (Christ in His Mysteries) #ImmaculateConception
On the 1st of November each year we celebrate the feast of All Saints Day! Today we venerate all those who have died and reached heaven. May the witness of these holy men and women serve as an inspiration to each of us to conform ourselves to Christ more each day.
Happy feast of the Baptism of the Lord!
'This is my Son the Beloved. Listen to Him!

Baptism of the Lord, end of Christmas season (that was quick!). We see Jesus’ humility, his proclamation as Messiah, his solidarity with us sinners. Our baptism brings us into Christ, into his life so we can become holy. & as life is so short, in him we can hope for eternal life
"Jesus so far humbles Himself as to let Himself be mistaken for one of a crowd of sinners...He acknowledges it as fitting that he be struck for the sake of divine justice and behold, the Father proclaims Him to be the object of all His delight." ~ Bl Columba #BaptismOfTheLord
"A world without God can only be a world without meaning. A society without God, a society that does not know Him and treats Him as non-existent, is a society that loses its measure." - Pope Benedict XVI
“Más fuerte es el niño que en la tempestad se agarra a las rocas, que el hombre abandonado al vaivén de las olas”.
Dom Columba Marmion, “Jesucristo, ideal del monje”.
