@agraybee There are light sabers, blasters, ships that travel at hyperspeeds, planet killing moon sized weapons, but their communication gear is worse than radios used in WWII. Most noticeable in ANH during the Battle of Yavin.

@USN_Submariner Commander Cromwell was on board and with volunteers scuttled and went down with her. Some survivors were picked up and some were transferred to two different ships On of those ships carrying Sculpin crew eventually was torpedoed and sunk by the renamed Squalas, the USS Sailfish.

@USN_Submariner Squalus was found by Sculpin. When Squals was brought back to the surface, FDR was there and remarked it looked like a sailfish breaching. Squalus was renamed Sailfish. Sculpin went down in Nov 43 during a surface engagement.

@Bublhead654 @USN_Submariner Since I was a non qual I guess they felt they could say terrible things to me about the crew of the Bonefish. I hated my time on that boat. I did qualify and moved on but I hated everything about the boat,crew who felt it was ok to bad mouth the Bonefish crew. Bunch of assholes.

@Bublhead654 @USN_Submariner I have never read this so thanks. The last couple of sentences are true. I had only been on board for less than 3 months. My first boat. I was not on board when the fire happened, but when I was sent to another boat the crew would comment that the Bonefish crew were the cause.

@USN_Submariner I had reported on board in Feb. Was cranking and during stores load I was in the fwd trunk loading gdu/ tdu weights. Got a hernia and was left behind for this run due to surgery.

@CarolynHen55369 Missing the layer of rubber mat the deck, then #10 cans of various food on the rubber mat followed by another rubber mat on top. I had the bottom bunk and could roll right out onto the top of those #10 cans.

@MikeyDiMercurio Was on 630 when Hugo was heading to Charleston. Was on the helm and the Old Man thought it was good idea to go to pd. Got to 150 feet and boom 33 feet. Shit was flying everywhere. OOD screaming to get heavy and down. On surface with scope up and all he could see was the sea.

@SSN_685 Saw a few other boats there with broken fairwaters and other damage. We returned to Charleston in Dec or Jan? Cannot remember. That hurricane sucked.

@SSN_685 Was at the Cape after the hurricane while on 630. After refit, went to sea and rode her out. I was on the helm and we attempted to go to PD. Mistake. After pulled into the Cape for a couple days. Family members drive down and loaded up on essentials and headed back to Charleston

@SSN_685 Two boats I was on are gone 630, 653. Nothing I know of remains from those two. The 763 is still operating. As for my first boat, 582, I am fortunate I guess to be able to tour the sister ship USS Blueback whenever I make it to Portland.

@EODHappyCaptain Because of that the Army rejected me right off. Went next door and Navy took me in. I was dumb and admitted to using weed once and that limited available rates. Wound up a TM on subs anyway.

@EODHappyCaptain When I enlisted in the Navy in 86 they were still asking the questions, do you now or ever had homosexual tendencies, are you or a family memeber of the communist party. I was born in Germany and did not have a birth cert. My dad was Airforce. That was a pain to get rights docs.

@USN_Submariner I know a few4-5 are receiving benefits for PTSD, trauma. I did 9 years 7 at sea and when I d/c in 96 it was not even mentioned to me to file a claim The couple I know who recently d/c within last 10 years told me they were explained how to apply before they d/c Just my experince.
