70° is narrower than Quest 3. That’s a trade, not a disqualifier.
It still does 6DoF, 120 Hz etc… That’s VR with a smaller window. If you want 110°, keep the Quest. These aren’t Quest 4.
Aura isn’t the cheaper version. Aura is optical see-through AR, Sony 1920×1200, 70° FOV, Android XR, ≤$1,500, fall 2026. Meta is video-passthrough VR/XR, 2412×2288, eye + hand tracking, Quest software, $1,300, spring 2027. Same glasses + puck idea. Different optics and OS.
I’m not saying they’re the same as Aura, but they are in the same category. Glasses + puck devices. Same class as Aura, with a Quest brain.
Both take a PC over USB-C/DP on the puck. Meta also does it wirelessly. You’re not stuck in Quest apps only. If you want, you can also play VR.
Simply, for a better display on my face that I can wear for a long time, Meta VR Glasses look like the better option. You also get a bunch of extras for the same price or less.
