Newsom, having failed to stop a billionaire tax from going on the ballot in his state, wants to bail out California by making the rest of the country suffer the same fate so there's nowhere for his constituents to flee to. That's the whole game here.
How to be a senetor in the USA:
1) Be in complete control of the legal framework of the US
2) Supreme court interprets exactly what you created as the legal structure
3) Get pissy at the supreme court for your own ineptitude at passing laws
The Supreme Court just green-lighted Trump’s plan to destroy the U.S. system of asylum & refuge for those fleeing violence, persecution & disasters.
This inhumane ruling goes against basic American values & will lead to immense suffering. The Court is little more than a political arm of the Trump regime & the white nationalist MAGA movement.
The Court was reading an act of Congress that said there was no judicial review of TPS designations. If you don’t like that, change the law.
Changing the Court won’t matter if you’re unwilling to pass new laws.
This cycle is as exhausting as it is predictable.
Hezbollah fires rockets/drones at Isreal/IDF, often per Iran’s request (testing parameters of its freedom of action).
Israel responds with proportionate force.
The world rains opprobrium down on Israel, the sole obstacle to peace in the region.
And now, the logic of the MOU will compel Trump to join the anti-Israel chorus.
Don’t believe the FAKE NEWS. When Republicans talk about fixing Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, we are not talking about reducing a single benefit.
We’re talking about eliminating hundreds of billions in FRAUD and inefficiencies that are draining the programs and threatening their sustainability.
The duty of Congress is to address the problems so we can PRESERVE the essential benefits that are relied upon by the American people. https://t.co/MpYSqwUhIq
OK, there were two potentially rational strategies (with proponents of both in violent disagreement)
1) Don’t start a war at all
2) Start and continue a war until you clearly win
I’m not arguing for either here.
But starting a war, reducing a cancer but not killing it always being the worst idea possible, and then stopping by doing your best Obama-deal imitation, seems to be the worst possible strategy. If Dr. Strange went through millions of scenarios he’d say “this is the only one we lose in.”
Oh, and while the agreement is to stop fighting, there is nothing close to an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program which, uh, WAS THE WHOLE FREAKING POINT. Trump actually says something like “they don’t even want a nuclear weapon anymore.” If anyone believes that they aren’t merely dumb they are “call the Guinness people (the world record ones not the brown ale ones though they might be useful too) we have found the dumbest person” dumb. Trump doesn’t believe that. Yes the Iranian terrorists wouldn’t take a nuke if we built it for them now. Right.
Why is this happening? Hard to be precise.
Doing this to appease the woke right whose ire you underestimated is just disgusting cowardice.
Doing it to drive oil prices down before the midterms is grossly incompetent as you really didn’t know oil prices would soar? Really? Nobody in war planning knew that? That’s new information to you? And if you care about the midterms so much why’d you endorse the disgusting “disqualified in any rational world” (yes, along with Platner) Paxton in Texas putting it play?
None of this makes any sense at all. Horrible. Just horrible.
USMNT has so much motion the prime minister of Canada skipped his own country’s match so he could get jacked off under a table by Katy Perry while the USA steamrolled Paraguay.
Checkmate, world.
This is grotesquely irresponsible.
Why do Republicans think a scandal-ridden reality-TV star was going to perform well in one of the bluest districts in the nation in a likely blue year? They liked his AI videos?
I hate the way California counts ballots, but claims of fraud requires evidence of fraud, not outcomes you don't like.
There is not a single friend that I have (or even acquaintance I can think of) who has behaved the way Platner's alleged to have behaved. Not one.
"he twisted her arm behind her back, shoved her into a bedroom and held the door closed from the other side so she couldn’t get out."
That's an allegation of criminal behavior. The question is whether it's true, not whether it's severe.
