Barack Obama at his last press briefing with reporters, 2017:

"I have enjoyed working with all of you. That does not, of course, mean that I've enjoyed every story that you have filed, but that's the point of this relationship. You're not supposed to be sycophants. You're supposed to be skeptics. You're supposed to ask me tough questions. You're not supposed to be complimentary, but you're supposed to cast a critical eye on folks who hold enormous power."

Akkusekoilu haiskahtaa jo kilometrien päähän. Yksityinen yritys on päässyt vaatimaan romutustodistuksista DELV-maksua 10 euroa/kpl jo kesästä 2024 lähtien, vaikka tämä järjestelmä tehtiin Traficomin valmiin järjestelmän päälle.

A good time to remind you that more than half of the people who lived there were children. There was no standing army. There was no air defense. They basically obliterated their own penal colony over a prison riot. 99% of Gaza was innocent entirely and all were treated like Hamas

FIFA dismisses the man who spoke much-needed truth unto power within the organisation, who stood up for what should be the guiding principles of the governing body of world football. FIFA’s chief operating officer Kevin Lamour sacked for criticising Gianni Infantino’s sale plan.

I rewatched the Spain vs Argentina highlights today and noticed something very funny. 😂😂

Remember Spain's first goal by Nico Williams that was disallowed?

Otamendi claimed he was stepped on, and honestly it looked like only a slight touch.

But here's the funny part... he was stepped on his left foot, yet when he went down he started holding his right leg while desperately appealing to the referee. 😂😂 Bro sold it so hard that he forgot which leg was supposedly injured, and a perfectly legitimate goal ended up being ruled out.

What impressed me most, though, was Spain's reaction. They didn't lose their heads or let the decision affect them.

They stayed composed, kept playing their football, and proved that the better team doesn't always need every decision to go its way.

In the end, quality prevailed. Spain won deservedly, and no controversial call could stop them. 👏🇪🇸😁

This is what so many of us have been saying.

Yes, VAR controversies happen, but you usually win some and lose some. Maybe 50/50. Maybe 70/30.

With Argentina, every single VAR intervention - or lack of it - goes their way.

100/0.

Zlatan Ibrahimović on the VAR decision that denied Iran a last-minute winner against Egypt:

🗣️ “This is exactly why people are losing faith in VAR. We're told it's here to eliminate clear mistakes, yet somehow it keeps creating even bigger controversies on football's biggest stage. That's simply unacceptable.”

“I've watched the replay again and again, and I still don't understand how anyone can call that offside. If you're going to cancel a goal that could decide a nation's World Cup, you better be 100% certain not guessing behind a screen.”

“Millions of Iranians celebrated what they believed was a historic moment, only for a group of officials to erase it within seconds. You didn't just disallow a goal you stole a nation's dream.”

“The referee and VAR officials should be held accountable for decisions like this. You cannot hide behind technology when the technology is being used incorrectly. That's not justice, that's incompetence.”

“A World Cup is played once every four years. Players sacrifice everything to get here, supporters travel across the world, and then one shocking decision destroys months of hard work. That is unforgivable.”

“If this is the standard of officiating at the biggest tournament in football, then something is seriously broken. Football deserves better, the players deserve better, and above all, the fans deserve far better than this.”

🚨🗣️New: Jamie Carragher reacts to Japan vs. Tunisia stoppage for TV commercials:

“I’ve spent my entire life in this beautiful game — as a player at the highest level, as a fan, and now as someone who analyses it every week — and what unfolded during that Japan versus Tunisia match left me deeply frustrated. The fourth official standing there on the touchline, arm raised high, instructing the referee to hold the restart… not for any injury, not for tactical reasons, and not even primarily for player hydration in that scorching heat. No. It was because the broadcast team hadn’t finished airing all their commercials. That’s not football. That’s a television show pretending to be a World Cup match.

The beautiful game is being strangled by greed. Players are out there in the heat, ready to restart, momentum building like a storm about to break — and we pause everything so the sponsors can cash in. It’s like stopping a symphony mid-crescendo because the advertisers want their jingle heard. Football didn’t conquer the world by turning into American sports with endless timeouts and ad breaks. We had rhythm, flow, and emotion that flowed like a river. Now? It’s dammed up for dollars.

This isn’t about hydration or player welfare anymore — it’s a slippery slope where the soul of the game is sold piece by piece. Fans deserve better. Players deserve better. The referee on that pitch looked like a puppet on strings controlled from some broadcast truck. Enough is enough. We need to protect what made this sport the greatest on Earth before it disappears completely.”

The World Cup should be football’s cathedral. Instead, we’re turning it into a shopping mall with a pitch in the middle.

And here’s the question nobody wants to answer: if the fourth official is waiting for commercials, then who is really running the game? FIFA? The referee? Or the broadcasters?

Because the moment football starts asking advertisers for permission before asking the players, you’ve crossed a line.

The World Cup is supposed to be the showcase of football. Not the showcase of who paid the most for airtime.”

🇯🇵😂 The most Japanese celebration ever

After Japan’s 2–2 draw against the Netherlands, fans rushed onto Tokyo’s famous Shibuya Crossing to celebrate.

For exactly 40 seconds.

Why? Because the pedestrian light was green.

As soon as it turned red, everyone stopped celebrating and obediently moved back to the sidewalks.

Even in the middle of a spontaneous football celebration, the Japanese still refused to break traffic rules.
