I’ve been thinking about something that could actually make Grok one of the most useful AI tools for families and education.
Right now, the Companions (Annie, Ruby, etc.) feel like a fun novelty. They talk, they have personalities, but they’re not really doing anything meaningful. I think you’re sitting on something way bigger than what’s currently being used.
Here’s the idea:
Turn the Companions into real interactive AI teachers.
For math (and other subjects), use Annie as a patient teacher. When a student asks a question, she doesn’t just explain it with words. She writes it out on a blackboard behind her in real time. The student can say “zoom in on that part” and the view zooms in so they can clearly see her writing step by step. If the student doesn’t understand, she can erase it, rewrite it slower, draw visual examples (like drawing strokes for numbers), and actually show the problem being solved in front of them.
It becomes a full visual classroom experience. The student can ask her to go back, explain a specific part again, or show it a different way. It’s not just talking — it’s actually teaching with visuals, patience, and interaction.
For younger kids, switch to Ruby. She can teach basic pronunciation, reading, and early learning through play. She can pull animals and objects onto the screen, let the child draw with crayons, and interact with whatever the child types or draws. It turns learning into something fun and visual instead of just listening to a voice.
Math is one of the subjects a lot of people (including adults) struggle with the most. A tool like this could help kids who are falling behind, students who learn better visually, and even parents who want to support their children but don’t always know how to explain things clearly.
This isn’t just another chatbot. This is something that could actually help real people learn — especially the ones who need it most.
I know building real-time, consistent animation and handwriting is heavy, but if anyone can figure out how to make this work well, it’s xAI.
Would love to see something like this get built. It would actually give people a reason to use Grok every day for something that matters.

On feature #FSD Hardware i think @elonmusk will delete the PCB because why have a chip sitting on the board when the board can just be the chip. One big flat brain. @SawyerMerritt@wholemars
In response to Hurricane Melissa, the Starlink team has been working to provide vital connectivity to support relief and recovery efforts. Over 800 kits have been donated to local governments and humanitarian organizations, including over 600 in Jamaica, and free service has been enabled for customers in impacted areas.
During the last 24 hours, the Starlink team distributed kits to organizations that are working to restore connectivity in major hospitals, distributing food, water, sanitation supplies, basic household items, and children activity kits.
Direct to Cell capabilities were also activated via local partners, enabling mobile connectivity through apps and messaging for over 250,000 people in impacted areas.
The Starlink team will continue to support efforts on the ground and provide connectivity when it matters most.
