Hello! I just refreshed my pinned tweets. I usually share all things Tolkien, folklore, folktale, and sometimes just RT cute arts or cats. Below are examples of the types of things I like to tweet!
This one is about Tolkien's essay on fairy stories. https://t.co/vhtbp0bNK4
On 8 March 1939, J. R. R. Tolkien delivered a lecture at the University of St. Andrews, which was published as essay "On Fairy Stories", in which he argued that fairy tales are not just for children, describing what it means to enter this realm.

(18/5) Five Indonesians were abducted by the IDF from aid vessels sailing international water, part of Gaza Sumud Flotilla. Four journalists (Andre Prasetyo from TEMPO, Bambang Noroyono and Thoudy Badai from Republika, Heru Rahendro from iNews) and activist Andi Angga.
Bambang Noroyono were abducted from BoraAlize vessel, Andre Prasetyo, Thoudy Badai, and Heru Rahendro from ΓzgΓΌrlΓΌk, and Andi Angga from Josef. I'm following Global Sumud Flotilla tracker; those who have been intercepted made SOS videos as per SOP. https://t.co/dy06ECPyoq

Two books that I still cannot move on from: Tareq Baconi's memoir on his queer and political awakening as a Palestinian activist and my first foray into contemporary Native American literature with Tommy Orange (Cheyenne and Arapaho). The first one is from @transitreads!
Songs and glitter cannot mask the occupation, relentless bombings, kidnapping of activists, attacks on aid flotilla, and blatant suppression on activism efforts and criticism.
"United in music" rings hollow when the music becomes nothing more than a rotten, hollow beauty.
Really happy with the recent Indonesian translation of Prof. Wieringa's research about lesbian, bisexual, and trans communities in Indonesia regarding of activism and movements. The book rejects the "queer activism, history, and lived-in reality only belong to the West."
One artwork featured in Sumud, an anthology of Palestinian essays, poems, and art, is Philistine (1997) by Palestinian artist Khalil Rabah. He put nails around the "philistine" entry in Oxford dictionary, examining the word and its relation to dehumanization of Palestinians.
A historical + ethnographic research on trans feminine community in 20th-century Indonesia (1950s-1980s); how they navigated the postcolonial era and the new country's efforts to evaluate its citizenship while challenging gender binary.

A memoir by queer Palestinian scholar and activist Tareq Baconi. The tale of his queer awakening, alternating with his family history that started in the 1948 Nakba, became a foundation of his political awakening in Palestinian cause. "The personal is political." #ReadPalestine
I swear I have other books too π This Indonesian poetry book by Hendri Yulius Wijaya and English-language anthology from Anamot Press depict Indonesian queer experiences. One of the poets in the anthology is actually from the same province as me.
