Sorry, Steve, but this argument is deeply flawed.
Many of the Eastern European Ashkenazis that you mention here arrived on our shores fully self-radicalized and brimming with revolutionary leftist ideologies, which were a consequence of the form the Jewish Enlightenment (Haskalah) took in Eastern Europe (i.e. not a consequence of exposure to anti-Semitism which is a common but false post-hoc justification for Eastern European Jewish radicalism.)
You concede this group had a big influence in the 20th century, so to make your argument you need to connect the dots between Protestant "progressivism" and the forms progressive politics took throughout the 20th century onward to the present day.
Jewish fingerprints are all over this, and any connection to Yankee WASP ideology is tenuous at best.
