BREAKING NEWS: The Minneapolis poet laureate has been named. Arlo Moonbeam is a barista in Minneapolis with an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. His inaugural poem, “Minneapolis, Rise Up,” has been leaked to the press. Unbelievable.
Thank you for being polite as they try to share something that's changed their lives for the better. I've always found my Catholic brothers and sisters to be exceedingly kind to our young missionaries.
Next time, offer them a soda and tell them a fun story. My son is one of those kids in Chile right now and the amount of rejection they get on an hourly basis is amazing.
Two good young men stopped by on their Mormon mission as I was reading on the porch today. White button downs, name tags. I said, “I love what you guys are doing, but, I’m Catholic.” The one kid says, “So no chance?” I just winked.
My dad would always introduce my son by saying, “This is my grandson, Charlie Marcus from Brooklyn,” as if he was mob connected. But it’s funny, even after 3 years in West Virginia, he is absolutely from Brooklyn.

I’ve talked to 100s of voters cross country about data centers, most have real trepidation. I don’t fully understand it, but it’s clear to me the real objection isn’t to quality of life, or water & electric. It’s a broader frustration at the invasiveness of tech in our lives.
