New: Financial firms want a bigger piece of the $10 trillion in America’s 401(k) plans, and the Trump administration is planning a regulatory rollback to allow for less-regulated — and often riskier — investments. https://t.co/1VMNFWmj05
Got tired of reading the kiddy books for bedtime and decided to read the Hobbit to my 6 & 7 year olds
I hadn’t read it since like 5th grade and it’s over the top linguistically advanced for kids
I thought they might struggle but they absolutely loved it
Every page they’d stop me 5+ times asking what certain words mean and I had to consistently stop and explain things but man I feel like it has been absolutely great for them (and me tbh)
Only classical novels from here on out at bedtime
New York City health officials are investigating a Legionnaires' disease cluster in two Upper East Side neighborhoods. As of July 6, there have been 23 cases, 17 hospitalizations and no deaths.

It will never not be insane to me that someone could have a billion dollars and still fight tooth and nail to have even more money? Like, you won, it’s over, build a library or help end hunger. Fully fund endometriosis research and become a hero. Real unimaginative loser shit.
@joni_askola You underestimate the degree to which the adversary will continue to feed people and capital into the meat grinder while conducting information ops against western populations in an effort to flip public opinion. That is where the war is being fought. The rest is a sideshow.
JUST IN🚨: Michigan residents plagued by a data center that emits a 60 dB hum that never stops
Neighbors of a data center have filed a lawsuit over a constant ”jet engine-like hum” emanating from it, which they say has destroyed their peace of mind.
I probably shouldn’t have to explain this but there was never gonna be a real peace agreement with Iran, Trump & his kids are making too much money off of market manipulation and the war itself, his aim is to get the press to stop paying attention to it.
Trump told you he’d run America like a business.
He is.
It’s called asset stripping. You go in, sell the profitable pieces, gut the workforce, load it with debt, & walk away rich while everyone else holds the bag.
Venture capitalist politics.
This is such blatant organized crime, it’s actually breathtaking.
Stuff like this convinces me there is no way this regime is going to leave peacefully.
If you can indict a guy for touching water, you can indict a shitload of people for this.
I was watching Trump sitting next to Zelenskyy this morning, rambling and riffing for the press. I was making notes, when - holy shit, did he really say that, when - holy shit, he just did a 180, when - holy shit, that makes no sense, and holy shit, something else - so I threw my notes away to make this post instead.
This man cannot be the emissary for America anymore. He is shot. He is full of gaffes (the Islamic Republic of Japan, yes - he said that), he is full of hyperbole (the bomb goes off and leaves you with no face), he is full of narcissistic envy (he can't shut up about Obama), full of ambiguity, full of politicization, and his attempts at grandiosity fall flat to the rest of the world and make us look terrible.
What the rest of the world thinks, matters. Our friends scratch their heads; and our adversaries salivate at how predictable and malleable he is. Everyone privately scoffs at him. His reputation is not salvageable, and he's dragged America's reputation down with him.
Malignant narcissists in decline ALWAYS get worse, and they NEVER go down alone.
BREAKING: Top GOP officials are reportedly terrified Kentucky Democrats will grow a pair and announce, “We’re assuming Mitch McConnell is completely incapacitated, and will now replace him,” to have courts force them to prove he's not a vegetable or let Beshear replace him.
NASHVILLE ZOO CEO: “We do not feel there’s a compromise… it’s my ethical responsibility to protect these animals— I cannot stand by and let the animals in our care become an experiment in the long-term effects of data centers.”

Nichols: It’s almost like we have a relative in the room, and there’s something deeply wrong with him. And we’ve all agreed not to talk about it. But there is something deeply wrong with him.
His friends know it, his critics know it. His staff, I’m sure, knows it. The world knows it. World leaders know it. And most importantly, our enemies know it, which is why they don’t take him seriously.
Nobody hangs on his words. They kind of do, but mostly out of freakish curiosity to see what kind of wild thing he’s going to say next, not because his words have any inherent meaning or reflect policy.
You know, I spent years teaching students that when the president speaks, it’s policy, and you must pay attention when the president speaks because nobody can contradict him.
Now, you know, are we really cutting off all trade with Spain? Who knows? Maybe. Maybe not. It might have just been a stray electron, you know, careening around inside his brainpan. Who knows?
But this is really dangerous because in the middle of all this stuff—and we can laugh about, you know, the Islamic Republic of Japan and all of that—but he made several statements about an ongoing war that the United States is losing. And no one’s even trying to pretend that they can make any sense of it.
And I’ll just add one last thing that you just brought up.
If this were any other president, this would be a national crisis. I mean, Joe Biden got somebody’s name wrong, and it was headlines. The president gets all kinds of things wrong, completely, you know, is out to lunch at an important NATO summit, and, you know, it’s Wednesday.
Russia is ramping up its cultural warfare in a big way, and artists are speaking out. Add your name to the list of people who oppose the highlighting of Russian artists at the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra.

This is an extraordinary development in the ongoing questions surrounding Senator Mitch McConnell’s health.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has taken the highly unusual step of formally sending a letter to Senator McConnell requesting that he update Kentuckians on his health and ability to continue serving in the United States Senate.
When a sitting governor publicly asks one of his own state’s senators to explain whether he is capable of fulfilling his duties, it’s a sign that concerns have grown well beyond social media speculation.
It’s also remarkable that a Democratic governor is the one demanding transparency while much of the Republican leadership has relied on brief public statements rather than providing clear, verifiable information that would settle the questions surrounding McConnell’s condition.
With the August 3 deadline under Kentucky law rapidly approaching, a date that could affect the process for filling any Senate vacancy, the need for transparency has never been greater. Kentuckians deserve to know whether their senator is able to carry out the responsibilities of the office they elected him to hold.
One question also remains unanswered regarding our national security: where is Elaine Chao and why has she been meeting with the CCP as McConnell is in the hospital?
