#SantaClaraCounty needs a new Sheriff! With 36 years of experience from Deputy Sheriff to three-time Police Chief, I am committed to making communities safe.
The riderless horse. The folded flag. Taps playing.
I’ve stood at those ceremonies as Sheriff. The pain never gets easier. It shouldn’t.
This is “Empty Saddle” — written for every officer who answered the call and didn’t come home.

I’ve been talking and writing about officer wellness for years. Trying to make it cooler for the profession so check out this song on box breathing! https://t.co/IObE769KIw

🎶At our recent Academy graduation, the recruits surprised us with a video and a song they created to capture their journey.
Inspired by their example, I decided to try something new myself: theme song for Got Your Six. Check out this song! https://t.co/PQOWRZ0FoY
2/ This shooting appears to be an isolated incident and NOT an active shooter.
However, officers are evacuating and clearing the mall to confirm there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
Please continue to avoid the area.
FIT FOR DUTY: Prioritizing Health, Saving Lives
DID YOU KNOW? Law enforcement and correctional officers face unique health risks—often developing heart disease decades earlier than the general population. That’s why the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office launched a groundbreaking on-site health screening program with support from nearly $170,000 in state grant funding.
🩺 More than 180 employees received:
• Advanced heart imaging
• Full blood work
• Early cancer detection
• Mental wellness checks
💬 “It was something I should have done, but most likely never would have—until the Sheriff’s Office made it so convenient,” said Sgt. Kyle Benner.
This initiative is more than a check-up—it’s a commitment to early detection, mental wellness, and long-term resilience. Because healthy deputies build safer communities.

Happy New Year!
Starting a new position, wearing a new uniform, and working with incredible people committed to serving is a great way to begin the year. So excited about 2023! 🙏🏻
Please follow us at @SCCoSheriff. This is my final tweet from my campaign twitter handle.
Congratulations Sheriff-elect @Bob4Sheriff! I look forward to your leadership & commend your commitment to restoring public trust in the Sheriff’s Office. Our comm’ty expects transparency and accountability. I’m here to support the work for a safe & just society for all.
99% votes counted and I’m humbled by all the support. Kevin Jensen and I provided two strong choices as we stayed focused on the most pressing issues facing the Sheriff’s Office. It’s time to start moving forward, and I’m excited to lead @SCCoSheriff into the future. 🙏🏻
Enforcing Red Flag laws, and seeking Gun Violence Restraining Orders (GVRO) whenever applicable, will be a top priority of mine!
We can do better, we must do better - every one deserves to feel safe, and in fact be safe, from gun violence! @MomsDemand@Everytown@shannonrwatts
Red Flag laws work when they are used. States with stronger gun laws have lower gun death rates. Colorado has strong gun laws, but Colorado Springs considers itself a "Second Amendment Sanctuary" and has a sheriff who is openly hostile to Red Flag laws.

Once an extremely rare event, mass killings unfortunately have become so common it’s hard to determine if any safe spaces remain for people to congregate without a fear of violence. It’s tragic and disheartening!
My thoughts are with all impacted by this senseless violence. 🙏🏻
Colorado Springs police have identified the suspect as 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich. They say he opened fire inside of Club Q, a local LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs.
NEW: With 95% of the vote counted, Robert 'Bob' Jonsen (@Bob4Sheriff) is headed for election as Santa Clara County's first new sheriff of the millennium.
'The organization is ready for change, and I believe they will rise to the occasion.'

Heartbreaking to hear. This is the same routine we jogged when I was in the Academy 36 years ago.
My thoughts are with all of the recruits injured in this morning’s run, and my hope for a full recovery for all involved. 🙏🏻

@sniggihwashere Hey Randal, what’s happening in LASD is unacceptable and it comes down to accountability. I have addressed this very question in public forums. If you are ever in Santa Clara County let’s catch up. Hope you’re enjoying retirement. 🙏🏻
Two words for all the brave men & women who have served to protect our country - Thank You! The respect, appreciation and gratitude is immeasurable. 🙏🏻

It’s #ElectionDay 🗳
Thank you for the opportunity to share my vision on the future of public safety, and specifically my ideas for reforming the Sheriff’s Office.
I’m honored to have been part of the process, one which allows you to choose our next Sheriff.

Don’t forget your sheriff candidates. We need more sheriffs to make gun violence prevention a priority. In Califonia there are five Gun Sense candidates, so find yours and cast your vote for making safer communities!
