@NickTreby @MartinSLewis Seems like an odd solution; the room will have already 'degraded' the sound by the time it reaches the microphone. On the other hand, given the size of it, it probably does contribute to the amount of absorption in the room!

Rishi Sunak's government has decided to spend up to an extra £90k of taxpayers' money defending Boris Johnson over Partygate.
Contract for legal advice during privileges committee probe has been extended until 28 February 2023 and value has gone from £129k to £220k.
@AdrianPugsley@Ulster_CST@bobbyalbon Sounds good. With the internal noise 'limits' in Approved Document O there are noise issues with nat vent even in places that wouldn't be considered particularly noisy so don't need acoustically high performing facades. Have you got a paper on it?
This is really interesting. A potential solution to address the overheating problem in buildings insulated to modern standards, especially where noise levels are such that you can't rely on natural ventilation to purge heat gain.
This week we hosted a candidate from @London_WES on a work shadowing day and introduced her to the world of acoustic consultancy.
She had the opportunity to use a sound levels meter and do some 3D noise modelling as well as just talking about acoustics. #wes#acoustics
As you creak unsteadily into middle-age, increasingly confused and scared by the world around you, which single factor makes you most comfortable in a restaurant? (cf @jayrayner1, no offense.)
We are recruiting engineers, senior engineers and principal engineers to join our London office. If you're interested in joining the largest independent consultancy in the UK, please get in touch.

Sandy Brown: Vibration measurements for trains, whatever the size. A very enjoyable day for Dan and Valerie measuring vibration from trial construction works at the @RailwayMuseum in York. Making sure that all exhibits, big and small, are kept safe.
