Not sure why this is so hard for my fellow Democrats to condemn.
NO, someone with a Nazi tattoo shouldn’t be the Dem nominee for the US Senate (without even addressing the other serious allegations).
Would we tolerate a KKK, anti-LGBTQ, or Islamophobic tattoo? No, we wouldn’t.
New: So far, there has been no mass exodus from Dems who endorsed Platner.
He intends to attend a Bar Harbor rally Friday w Ro Khanna.
Platner backers forging ahead: “It’s a lot harder to dislodge us because we know the man.”

As the Illinois GA concludes its 2026 Spring Session, I’ve been reflecting on my role in Springfield and what my colleagues and I were able to accomplish this year.
Thank you for entrusting me with this work.

We took an important step toward tackling Illinois’ pension debt.
In partnership with Senator Martwick, we passed legislation to extend the bipartisan, voluntary COLA Buyout Program for an additional 2 years - building on a solution that’s already reduced our pension (1/3)
No one should have to fear gun violence when casting their vote. Yet as political rhetoric grows more extreme and polarization deepens, threats against election officials are on the rise. (1/3)

Great idea Alex - I will file a bill to do the same in Illinois and see if we can add it to our FY27 budget this week.
Jan 6’er slush funds should be 100% taxed - I can think of quite a few health and human services agencies strangled by Trump Admin cuts who’d benefit.
I just introduced the Anti-Insurrectionist Act in NY. It's simple: If you're a New Yorker who takes from Trump's illegal January 6th slush fund, NY will tax 100% of it.
In Illinois, we're bringing down costs—one junk fee at a time.
I called for this in my State of the State address, and I'll be proud to sign it into law.
Moments ago, the “Junk Fee Ban Act” officially passed both chambers and is now on its way to @GovPritzker’s desk for his signature!
Those undisclosed fees you see at the bottom of your receipt, typically known as “convenience fees” or “processing fees”, cost you $3,000 a year.
I will always be indebted to the @ADL, and Abe Foxman.
The organization was there for me when I had nowhere else to turn, and learning that Abe had passed away took me back in time.
This is my ADL origin story. 🧵
This month, I'm proud to recognize and honor the stories, traditions, and achievements that continue to strengthen the fabric of our state and country. Happy Jewish American Heritage Month! (2/2)
May is Jewish American Heritage Month: a time to celebrate the generations of Jewish Americans whose contributions have helped shape our nation. From civil rights and education, to labor, and business, Jewish Americans have played an enduring role in American history (1/2)
What keeps me up at night is the exponential rise of antisemitism that awaits my Jewish children.
As @GovPritzker said, we must push back and fight antisemitism, bigotry and hate in all its forms.
Democratic Socialists shouldn’t be running in Democratic primaries, just like Republicans shouldn’t be running in Democratic primaries.
Our party continues to allow this at our own peril.
There were many who told me Hasan Piker was not trying to insert himself into Democratic politics. They thought I was making up the threat. These words speak for themselves. Piker’s trying to drag the Democratic Party in his direction. If we want to win, we must reject him.
Thank you to everyone who joined me at last night’s town hall. We had thoughtful discussions about the impact of the federal government on Illinois and how this year’s state budget is shaping up. I’m always grateful for the opportunity to hear directly from you. (1/2)
SCOTUS just took a step backward, chipping away at the very foundation of the Civil Rights Movement. By effectively gutting Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, they’ve weakened one of the most important tools we have to protect fair representation & racial equity in our democracy.
I used to live in this Louisiana district; I’ve seen up close how hard people fight to have their voices heard and their votes count. That’s what makes this moment hit even harder.
But let me be clear; Democrats across this country, and especially here in Illinois, aren’t going to sit back and watch this happen. We’re going to fight. We’re going to organize. And we’re going to use every tool we have to make sure the promise of equal access to the ballot isn’t something we talk about in the past tense, but something we protect and expand right now.
Because while they’re rolling rights back, we’re moving forward. Illinois House Democrats just passed HJRCA 28 Illinois Voting Rights Amendment to lock protections into our state constitution, not talk, not tweets, but real, durable protection.
So no; we’re not going backward. Not on our watch.
Always the best weekend of the year to collect for @heartofmercy Candy Days!
Make sure to donate and take some gummy bears with you!

This is a big deal, and a major step for removing barriers for IL medical cannabis patients.
We will review the details of the AG’s actions today, but it is long overdue to break down barriers for patients just trying to get access to their medicine. Let’s continue progress…
So proud of my friend, @DanielDidech_IL, who was just elected to be Chair of the @LakeCountyDems1!
Big shoes to fill following @LaurenBethGash, but with help of his Vice Chair Laura Dias, he will make bigger gains in Lake County electing Democrats up and down the ballot!
