Sad news with the passing of Bill Davidge. Miami hockey head coach in the 1980s and then longtime NHL broadcaster for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
As classy as they come. Friend to so many in Oxford. Always made it clear he was in my corner as I pursued a career in broadcasting.

In 1910, the NHA switched to 3 periods from 2 halves partly due to ice conditions and partly to drive concession sales! Manual cleanup then without zambonis.

Today, intermissions normally 18 mins but OT intermissions are 15 mins.

York didn't celebrate on the ice at all. He waved to his teammates to follow him straight to the door & they all rushed off the ice. Unusual but fun.

@JonHeyman Contrary to current thinking, umpiring today has gotten so much better. The technology is the reason why. Umps study the video after and improve. None of that Eric Gregg "think it caught the corner" as well as this video which really is quite striking based on what we know today.

Wasn't even noteworthy at the time. Wonder when was the last time there was a pitchout at ASG.

Article on substack says pitchouts are down 94% since 2010. Maybe 1 per year per team today. Wow!
