Unfortunately, our tournament got cut short due to the weather, but I was still able to get in a full game in the ⭕️!
I pitched 4.0 innings, giving up 2 hits and 5 strikeouts.
I’m incredibly PROUD of my son, @AlexWegner2029! Today at Westview he was 1 of 6 Freshman recognized as “Freshman 5 Star Of The Year”! Way To Go, Alex💙👏🏻🧡👏🏻💙!!!
Recovery has been a long process in more ways than one. Fracturing my back had me out for some time. After that I was admitted to Children’s Hospital, and from there sent to a treatment center in Denver Colorado for my eating disorder. But, i’m back on the field again!
Great stuff from Cowgirl ace Ruby Meylan on how she's been able to take the next step mentally this season. Meylan threw a complete game in OSU's Bedlam win over #1 OU, and says her mental approach helped her get through a super challenging Sooners lineup
Good stuff from @HaleyMeinen Former D1 pitcher and now pitching coach.
If an athlete comes to you with a concern…
and you immediately shut them down—
that’s not “coaching.”
That’s ego.
Because here’s the truth:
It takes a lot for a player to speak up.
Especially to an authority figure.
So when your response is to dismiss them, belittle them, or act like they’re wrong for even bringing it up…
you’re not building trust.
You’re teaching them to stay quiet.
And that’s a problem.
You don’t have to agree with everything your athletes say.
But if you can’t even have a conversation without getting defensive…
that’s on you, not them.
Because coaching isn’t just about calling pitches or writing lineups.
It’s about leadership.
And leadership means being able to handle uncomfortable conversations like an adult.
Not shutting them down.
Not making it about you.
Not hiding behind your title.
Because here’s what a lot of coaches forget:
Respect isn’t automatic just because you’re “the coach.”
If you want buy-in…
if you want trust…
if you want your players to actually want to play for you—
then be someone worth following.
If you want accountability from your team, start by examining your own. Growth begins with you. The way you treat standards and expectations will eventually be mirrored by the people you lead. They don’t just hear what you say. They watch what you tolerate and what you reinforce.
My favorite part from @HuskerSoftball’s Top 15 win was THIS MOMENT.
The bond between Jordy Frahm and Alexis Jensen is already on display. Two great competitors who are also showing to be each other’s biggest supporters as well. This will be a deadly combo all season.

"Commitment is required.
You can't pick and choose which pieces of the program that you need to be committed to."
Everything required or nothing achieved.
One of my best and favorite coaches when I was in high school is now my kids' high school principal, 30+ years later. The good ones can have a positive effect on multiple generations of Kids!!!!!
Coaches matter more than you think.
