@SIfill_ I get the outrage, but this is a little misleading. He's just been chosen as the interim president until a proper replacement can be found. The job posting for interim president explicitly stated that if selected they would be ineligible for the permanent role.
@What46HasDone Yeah but you probably want to prosecute him before he would potentially have control of DOJ again and could shut down the investigation/prosecution. Remember the DOJ has a ridiculous rule preventing the prosecution of a sitting president he could hide behind if re-elected
@lxeagle17 I'm going to be very disappointed if California, within a span of 4 years, goes from being one of only a few states in the country with 2 women senators to having 2 men.
@lxeagle17 She was basically the only majority maker in 2018 who flipped a seat from red to blue while running on Medicare For All, which is electorally impressive to some.
@IceSheetMike @climatecal@nytopinion AND he still thinks markets—not governments—have the solutions, so he's still behind climate scientists/advocates who know the market failed us for several decades while fossil fuel companies knew exactly what they were doing
If you've ever wondered if you would have been the kind of person to speak out against anti-Jewish hatred in the '30s and '40s, you don't need to wonder today. Vicious antisemitism is out in the open. Here's your moment to say something. When are you speaking up against it?
@fawfulfan I wish he had capped all loan payments at 5% of income. Trying to figure out how the calculations will work for those of us with undergraduate and graduate debt and thinking about how it's going to be so overcomplicated
@jack_bartick3@Oz_in_OK@ClimateHuman I hate how much I sound like a milquetoast moderate, but when the consequences are this dire, we need to work with people we vehemently disagree with on most things as long as they support the Constitution.
@jack_bartick3@Oz_in_OK@ClimateHuman If we're actually going to save democracy, we'll need the help of conservatives and liberals alike. While we can get some people in the middle up off the sidelines, there just aren't enough of them who could ever be activated to do it with just them alone.
@jasonfurman Those 87% of Americans (I presume who currently do not hold student debt?) benefit by having a better educated populace that generates much greater tax revenue and fosters better quality of life for all Americans
