Nice post…great to see an Orthopaedic md doing these! I was trying to find research a while back showing isos are also helpful for maintaining bone density similar (but maybe not as strong stimulus) to heavy weights or jumping. But, I couldnt find strong evidence. Are you aware of any studies or medical theory that might support isometrics in this regard?
@JavierBlas This is an excellent summary! I would like to incorporate in a case study discussions with my energy students about SMR fission and fusion commercialization realities. What are some good primary reference sources for this table?
@HopfJames Thanks for sharing! What would you consider a good objective reference source estimating $/kw & EIA Levelized Avoided Cost (LACE) in 10-15 years for the 345 MW Terrapower w/ storage dispatchable baseload (if we very optimistically assume a few successful designs beyond proto?
In trying to shift some attention back to large scale nuc advantages vs smaller scale…Is there a “explain it like I am a 5 yr old” statement or two that might resonate with typical general public understanding of nuc power potential? I keep seeing narratives of lower Capex funding of small vs large needs despite lower energy potential.
Elon and teams open discussion of the hard energy demand and cooling problems that were resolved in such a short time is truly amazing! Getting the large amount of mobile cooling trailers ahead of time and using tesla pack to smooth power at such large scale so quickly is an astounding engineering achiement in real time. Kudos!
@HopfJames Definitely addressing needed & key supply chain concerns in nuclear…. I agree wholeheartedly with your research lab applicability observation. Thank you for sharing. Look forward to following this developement
@chigrl Does a significant level of new Nat Gas infrastructure need to be installed in South Africa for this to happen over the next decade or is there already a reasonable amount of existing Nat Gas infrastructure?
@LostAngelNZ@chigrl I recall similar discussions in industry around aluminum vs copper busbar. Weight and cost is definitely important. Have you found any engineering articles discussing size vs resistance tradeoffs in EVs with using Al vs Cu?
@ConvexityMaven Appreciate your Simplify vid talks with @profplum99 In future vid, could you discuss potential positive or negative implications to MBS market of Fannie/Freddie intervention in secondary mortgage purchasing? (if it transpires). I.e. worries of enabling another 2008 future?
@PeterGrandich Does CAMECO 49% ownership of Westinghouse concern a long term CAMECO investment thesis if USA remains in nuc refurbishment/restart mode vs new build mode? Is more bullish int’l thesis enough to overcome?
@LukeAne10@LukeGromen You have to consider the degree to which any subsidization improves productivity or is considered misallocation of financial capital (unproductive)
