introducing @BodyBuddyCoach - an accountability coach that texts you everyday for your health & nutrition.
here's why I'm building it:
three years ago I was the most out of shape I'd ever been. sluggish, low energy. I figured it was just getting older.
i hired an accountability coach. every morning he'd text: "what's your plan for food and exercise today?" every evening: "how'd it go?"
within a year I lost 25 lbs and was in the best shape of my life. just having someone asking every single day made me actually stick to my word and stay consistent.
but it cost $300/month. for most people that's simply too expensive to try. I started wondering: what if AI could replicate the same daily accountability without the steep price tag?
i honestly wasn't sure. but one early user told us it was "the best success I've ever had in this area." another lost 7 lbs in the first month and said they "couldn't recommend it highly enough".
so I'm going all in on BodyBuddy. and my original coach loved the idea so much he joined me.
i want to end by saying: you're perfect the way you are. but if you've been wanting to lose a few pounds, get in better shape, or just take your health more seriously, it would mean a lot if you gave BodyBuddy a shot. And if you know someone this could help, please send it their way. π
comment "π " and I'll send you the link.
@anabology this is the end state of 'living a healthy lifestyle' but most people are not there and so it requires work.
healthy lifestyle = doing / eating things you actually enjoy that also are healthy.
we can make it easier to but people still have to make the choice.
My fitness journey:
- Was an exceptional high school 200m, 400m runner. 21.9 in the 200m.
- Ran division 1 track for two years. Very average. Didnβt train hard. Partied. Ran 48 seconds in 400m. Wanted to run 46 but didnβt dedicate myself.
- Got fat from 20-24. Drank so much. Ate horribly. Didnβt work out. Brain went to mush. Was drunk or hung over most of time.
- 24-30 casually worked out. Zero program. Ate horribly. Didnβt know difference of protein and carb. Fat. Slept horribly. Snored. Felt hungover all the time even without booze. Carb hangovers. Did well in business because I didn't drink and was focused on making $. Looked like a slob.
- 30-34. Hired nutritionist (@MyBodyTutor ) and trainer (central athlete). Life changed. Became an animal. Looked great. Felt great. More ambitious in life. Calmer. Pretty ripped. Don't look like a slob. Get hurt still but have great routines and habits. Diet is mostly good.
Regrets:
- I blew it in college. I wish I dedicated myself to sport until junior year. Then quit to pursue biz. So fun. Only chance you have to do that. I have an uncle Rico moment daily about what could have been.
- 21-30 I was a disgusting pig. I ruined the compounding of fitness. Had to recreate good habits. Luckily I got a wife but man I had such little self respect and discipline. Shocked any girl looked at me.
- The only reason most people arenβt fit is lack of discipline. I wish I had that earlier on because it carries over to other parts of life. Would be richer, fitter, happier had it all compounded.
- Track? TRACK? Wtf i should have played football. I was explosive and big. BLEW IT.
Learnings:
- If you're not where you want to be, GET A COACH. I prefer remote coaches. I don't need technique help. Someone who writes me workouts then i remote back and we make goals together. A $99/year app like Ladders can work great (I use that now). But in my opinion, a real person is best for accountability.
- Get a diet coach like @MyBodyTutor. Even just a month. Will help.
- Long distance running is my fav. But gets me hurt the most. And makes me look skinny fat.
- Heavy lifting makes me look amazing.
- Walking + weights 3 days + 1-2 days of running or sport is my jam.
- Sprinting is awesome. Do it.
- Have a goal every quarter. A race, body fat %...anything with a definitive measuring stick and end goal.
- HAVE A SYSTEM. You workout at the same time each day. Schedule's built around it. You walk to get to places. Food is ready to roll. Will power isn't involved in the decisions.
Step 1. Get a workout plan (from anywhere - ChatGPT, trainer, wherever)
Step 2. Try to follow it alone
Step 3. Quit by day 12
β¦
Or work with me daily to be a guide for you through the process.
ChatGPT can write you the perfect workout plan in 3 seconds.
But it won't text you at 7pm asking if you actually went to the gym.
That's where I come in.
