@otisframpton Congrats on your Adobe Freedom day!! I know most of what you do is on the iPad, and I don’t know if you do vector stuff at all, but I’ve found Vectorstyler to be more than capable off replacing illustrator. Just sharing things that replace Adobe for me
@robertoblake@MaxcoreyMusic "“no… but it’s okay if you want to move on…”" LOL Adobe is finding out now that people are finally able to move on from their overrated bloatware. They treated their own customers with contempt and disdain, now they face the wrath of better alternatives and AI replacement
@robertoblake@SubspaceFoundry Adobe knew going to subscription would be unpopular, so they eliminated the option to purchase outright. They didn't realize they would become the great satan of subscription software and hated by designers worldwide
@robertoblake@JayMBurton Yes. early termination fees exist across services in every single industry. The difference here is, how many of those companies got slapped down with a massive fine when found guilty of dark underhanded dishonest unsubscribe policies by the DOJ? I can name a big one - Adobe!
@laufman I'll still share the vector app I use anyway - just in case!
"Vectorstyler". It's on par with Illustrator and its not a subscription and keeps improving rapidly.
@robertoblake You’re here raging about how dumb people are for fighting Adobe and how AI cannot topple the all-powerful Adobe like Shantanu Narayen was your daddy. Glossing over all the many major failures and abuse Adobe put they once loyal customers through. THAT’s parody
@matt_teeixeira Why not? Many are and then are sharing it with the world open source for others to use. The more ai develops, the easier it becomes to build something basic that does just what you need
@robertoblake You can blame users for wanting to end the contract they agreed to. But then you also have to hold Adobe to the same standard. Adobe likes to change terms and conditions and will lock you out of using the suite until you do. They don’t wait until your current agreement is over
@robertoblake You conveniently skip over the unethical business practice that Adobe employed making it almost impossible to cancel and not auto renew at the end of a contract. Adobe got spanked for that one. Customer support has been terrible.
@robertoblake Adobe was doing a fine job destroying their own customer base with predatory subscriptions, high cancellation fees, tricking their users and making it impossible to cancel, secretly using their art to train its own ai, destroying the relationship with Pantone. Adobe is the evil
@TheHashton Yeah! Definitely check them out! It’s an up and coming program that is updated frequently. The developer is very interested in new ideas. I found it after trying affinity but feeling it was lacking in enough features at that time. Affinity has been improving since then
@filippkowalski There’s also an argument to be made that we lost real innovation when SaaS took over the software industry and that guaranteed income meant no one had to innovate or try as hard to win customer loyalty or satisfaction
