Very auspicious day for our 7th @wto Open Day - Portes Ouvertes de l‘OMC. We are grateful to have been joined by H.E. Nicolas Walder, Member of the State Council of Geneva, H.E. Amb Erwin Bollinger of Switzerland, and H.E. Amb Guilherme de Aguiar Patriota of Brazil to open a day of fun, learning and appreciation for what the WTO does. Many thanks to the speakers for highlighting the deep history, beauty and importance of our historic Centre William Rappard (our main building) at the center of International Geneva. I was happy to not only see our august visitors but many members of the public and their families touring the WTO 100-Year Centenary exhibit.

At a 1,000 strong gathering of the Association of the Swiss Tech Industry - @swissmem. Discussing current trade issues, tariffs, protectionism, geopolitics, macroeconomic imbalances. Also looking at opportunities in diversification and decentralisation of value chains, at services trade including digitally delivered services and green trade. Above all discussing the status of WTO reforms and what it means for businesses. Great to be with H.E Ambassador @BollingerErwin - Swiss Ambassador to the WTO. @SECO_CH

Under the Chairmanship of the newly elected Chair of the @wto Council for Trade in Goods (CTG), Amb. Erwin Bollinger, WTO Members at the 20-21 May CTG meeting discussed growing pressure on the rules-based trading system and reviewed 38 trade concerns, including nine new ones.

Happy to receive participants of the 2026 U.S. Congressional Staff Study Tour to Switzerland for a valuable exchange on the WTO - challenges, opportunities and directions for the future including WTO reforms. What was a moment of joy turned into a tragedy in Crans-Montana last night, felt across the country and beyond. The Federal Council has taken note of this with deep dismay. Its thoughts are with the victims, the injured and their families and it extends its deepest condolences.

A visit today from a delegation of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs @SECO_CH. Led by H.E State Secretary Helene Budliger Artieda @SECO_StateSec and H.E Amb Erwin Bollinger. Good discussion on Switzerlands role at the @wto, the challenges for a small open economy in the contextof present geopolitical and trade tensions, the agenda for reform at the WTO, and forward looking opportunities in global trade.
