- Ahmed al-Haznawi, Flight 93 hijacker, 2001, martyrdom video: "But the truth is as you have seen: we have killed them outside America, thanks to Allah, but today, we shall kill them in their homeland."

- Zawahiri, 2008: "we have declared more than once, with the utmost clarity, that we were the ones who carried out not only the destruction of the Trade Center but the Pentagon as well."
