28 October 1914 | A Sapper’s Valour, A Legacy of Honour

The history of The Bombay Sappers is etched with acts of extraordinary courage—when adversity demanded leadership, and duty demanded everything.

At Neuve-Chapelle, France, Havaldar Maruti Jadhav rose to the occasion when majority of the officers of the 20th and 21st Field Companies had fallen including more than a third of other ranks. Taking command of his section, he led a successful assault on an enemy position, displaying courage and initiative of the highest order.

His gallantry earned him France’s Médaille Militaire, instituted in 1852 and awarded for exceptional military valour.

Maruti Jadhav went on to serve as Group Subedar Major, retiring in 1936 as Honorary Captain.

The Bombay Sappers Agniveer Sailing Team delivered a strong performance at the CESC Regatta Pawna Championship 2026, held at Pawna Lake, Lonavala, from 21–27 October.

With nine teams competing across 36 races, Bombay Sappers Team sailed to the top of the podium—a tremendous show of skill, teamwork and composure on the water.

Both teams reflect the Bombay Sappers’ commitment to developing young talent through sport and giving Agniveers the platform to test themselves against strong competition.

Two records rewritten on the way to an Asian podium finish—a defining achievement that puts Sub Ajay Kumar among the standout performers of the Games.

A historic first for Army Paralympic Node

Breaking new record at the 5th Asian Para Games, Aichi–Nagoya 2026, Para swimmer Sea Man Rohit Kumar has won Bronze in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke (SB4), securing the Army Paralympic Node’s first-ever medal in para-swimming at the Games.

A landmark achievement forged through perseverance, courage and an unyielding determination to push beyond limits.

From Khadki to the Asian stage, Rohit’s achievement reflects the transformative power of opportunity, dedicated training and the refusal to give up.

Adding to the Bombay Sappers’ presence, Nk Sandeep Singh represented Army Green.

The championship showcased their contribution to competitive sport at the Inter-Services level.

14 Oct 2026- Lt Gen P. S. Bhagat Birth Anniversary

In the annals of military valour, few military leaders embody courage as profoundly as that of Lt Gen P. S. Bhagat.

As a young Second Lieutenant in World War II, he continued clearing minefields under intense enemy fire for 96 hours without a break. Despite his vehicle striking mines thrice and suffering a perforated eardrum, he pressed on. His Commanding Officer called it “the longest continued feat of sheer cold courage.”

That was the mettle of the legendary warrior —a soldier who placed duty above danger and mission above self.

Remembering a distinguished combatant whose courage remains an enduring inspiration for *Indian Army* & nation.

“I am a Bombay Sapper—not all can have the same luck.”

The Army Weightlifting Trials 2026–27, held at ASI Pune on 10 October, delivered an outstanding result for BEG Centre, Khadki, with nine lifters selected for the Army Node Team.

The selected lifters will now prepare for the upcoming Inter-Services and Senior National Championships 2026–27.

From the snatch to the clean and jerk, their performance reflects the discipline, technical precision and relentless preparation that competitive weightlifting demands.

Born into a family of extraordinary military legacy—brother to Maj Som Nath Sharma, PVC, and Gen V. N. Sharma, Chief of the Army Staff—Lt Gen Surendra Nath “Tindi” Sharma carved his own remarkable path as a Paratrooper Sapper. From the battlefield and airborne operations to becoming Engineer-in-Chief, his life embodied courage, vitality and an unrelenting commitment to service. Even at 86, he continued to jump.

A life lived fully. A soldier’s spirit undiminished. A legacy that continues to inspire. 🫡🇮🇳

Nb Sub Suraj Karkera , goalkeeper of national men’s Hockey team was integral to the Gold medal won by team.
Sub Dhiraj Bommadevara won two silver medals representing Recurve Men’s Team & Mixed Team in Archery
Nb Sub Salman Khan won Bronze Medal in Men’s Double Sculls Rowing competition
