Carrying forward the proud sporting legacy of the Bombay Sappers, the Boys Sports Company, BEG & Centre, Khadki, delivered an outstanding performance at the Maharashtra Sub-Junior & Masters State Rowing Championship held at CME Pune from 06–07 June 2026. 🚣‍♂️

Competing across six Sub-Junior and two Masters events, the team displayed remarkable skill, determination, and teamwork, securing an impressive tally of 04 Gold 🥇 and 02 Silver 🥈 medals.

Heartiest congratulations to the cadets and coaches whose dedication and hard work continue to nurture the sporting champions of tomorrow and bring laurels to the institution. 🇮🇳

Lt Gen “Tindi” Sharma and Brig Mark Pillai – reunion of two Bombay Sapper family’s

In 1942, then Lt MM Pillai was awarded a Military Cross for his daring escape from a POW camp in Singapore and his 5000 km journey home to India across Japanese occupied Malaya, Thailand and Burma. Later he was tasked with training Sappers, and his adjutant was the young “Tindi” Sharma who later retired as Engineer-in-Chief Indian Army, Lt Gen SN Sharma.

A few days ago in Delhi, it was my privilege to reunite the 2 families – in this picture, we stand before a portrait of Lt Gen Sharma’s elder brother Major Somnath Sharma, the first winner of the Param Vir Chakra. From left to right are Col Ravi Pillai 63 Cavalry (Brig Pillai’s 3rd son), Gen Sharma and me.

The Bombay Sappers mourn the sad demise of Brig Shastri Arvind Nilkanth (Retd), a distinguished officer whose decades of dedicated service greatly enriched the Corps of Engineers and the Indian Army.

Commissioned into the Bombay Sappers in 1956, he held numerous important command and staff appointments with distinction, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, leadership, and unwavering commitment to duty.

Carrying forward the proud sporting legacy of the Bombay Sappers, Subedar Santosh Yadav of BEG & Centre, Kirkee, brought great honour to the nation as Team Manager and Coach of the Indian U-17 Women’s Wrestling Team at the Asian Women’s Wrestling Championship 2026 held at Da Nang, Vietnam. 🇮🇳

Under his guidance and exceptional coaching, the Indian team emerged Overall Champions, securing a historic 100% podium finish with an outstanding tally of 02 Gold 🥇, 03 Silver 🥈, and 05 Bronze 🥉 medals.

Subedar Ajit Kallapa Patil (Retd), has dedicated himself to the welfare of ex-servicemen, widows and Veer Naris. Having assisted over 1,500 beneficiaries in pension-related matters and founded Sainik #NariShakti Samstha.

Sergeant Suresh Shivram Dumbre (Retd), has rendered commendable service in mental health awareness, de-addiction support and community outreach through Parivartan Trust, Pune. His efforts have helped reduce stigma, encourage early treatment and promote social inclusion.

Naik Sampat Shamrao Jadhav (Retd), has consistently supported ex-servicemen, widows and the local community through pension guidance, ECHS assistance, tree plantation, blood donation camps, cleanliness drives and women’s self-help groups.

As part of the Oral History Project, the Bombay Sappers had the privilege of interacting with Maj Gen S S Sharma, KC, VSM (Retd), a distinguished military thinker, mountaineer, and pioneer in high-altitude warfare studies.

Leader of India’s first wintering team to Antarctica and among the principal architects of the Snow & Avalanche Studies Establishment (SASE).
Maj Gen SS Sharma’s contributions laid the foundation for avalanche forecasting, mountain meteorology networks, glacier movement techniques, and safety protocols for troops deployed in extreme terrain.
Officer’s professional expertise also played a significant role in shaping operational preparedness during Op Meghdoot and Op Vijay.

A remarkable legacy of vision, innovation, and service—preserved for future generations through the Oral History Project. 🇮🇳

1497 #Agniveers marched with pride at the historic Chatterjee Parade Ground, marking the successful culmination of 24 weeks of intense training at The Sikh Light Infantry Regiment Training Centre, #Fatehgarh. From discipline to determination, endurance to excellence, these young warriors have transformed into confident soldiers ready to serve the Nation with honour, courage and commitment.

The #PassingOutParade (#POP) was reviewed by Brig Maneesh Kumar Jain, Commandant, The Sikh Light Infantry Regiment Training Centre. A press conference video is being circulated across media and social media platforms with an attempt to malign the image of the #IndianArmy.

It is reiterated that the individuals seen in the video, namely Chandu Chavan, Harendra Yadav and P Narender, were dismissed from service on grounds of indiscipline and unsoldierly conduct. The fourth individual, Shankar Singh Gujjar, is a deserter and disciplinary proceedings are undergoing against him in both military and civil courts.

These individuals are deliberately spreading fake, malicious and misleading narratives on social media to divert attention from their own misconduct and dismissal from service. Citizens are advised not to fall prey to such propaganda and to remain vigilant against misinformation. (1/2)

In a remarkable life-saving medical intervention, specialists at Army Institute of Cardio-Thoracic Sciences (#AICTS), Pune successfully treated the wife of a veteran suffering from advanced oesophageal cancer that had created a dangerous passage between her food pipe and airway (Tracheoesophageal fistula) leading to critical breathing complications.

Using ECMO support,the multidisciplinary team performed a rare and highly complex airway intervention with deployment of Self Expanding Metallic Inverted Y- Stent in the air passage, restoring her airway and giving a new lease of life.

The successful treatment reflects the Indian Army’s advanced medical capability and unwavering commitment towards the welfare of veterans and their families.

The expedition covered a challenging 145 km riverine route from #Rudraprayag to #Rishikesh, passing through #Srinagar, #Devprayag and #Kaudiyala along the mighty waters of the #Bhagirathi, #Alaknanda and #Ganga. Navigating demanding rapids and tough riverine conditions, the team displayed exceptional courage, endurance, coordination and mental resilience.

As the #SuryaDisposers rode the rapids of the #Ganga, the expedition emerged as a powerful symbol of adventure, unity and soldierly determination.
