@zarahussain999 Depends on the type of person you are. I once took a job that earned the equivalent of £2.00 an hour vs sitting on benefits. It was worth it, as it gave me pride, purpose & self worth. It also ended up leading to better things!

I come from a generation where there was no such thing as a minimum wage.
It only started in 1999.

The recent increase in minimum wage, at the same time as raising employers NI and other hits on business, is already affecting employment.
There are fewer jobs as businesses have to rethink their recruitment strategy.
Especially in the hospitality industry.

Unemployment is up in general.
And youth unemployment accounts for a large %age.

But don't you worry there is a whole raft of benefits to help today's working age people to survive.
Benefits not available to my generation.

In fact it is possible for some people to live on tax free benefits without ever having to contribute to the system.
All funded by tax paying workers AND pensioners.

Benefits are not there for people who can work - not for the lazy.

The working middle class in the UK works until the first week of July without pay annually to pay into the benefits system. Imagine going to work to pay tax, knowing that you are working months at a time just to give it to some lazy person staying home?

ANYONE saying that they prefer benefits over work, when they can work, is a scrounger and sub-human person.
