EOCO officials and Dennis Miracles Aboagye return from a visit to his residences, a standard bail execution procedure to help officials know him more and identify places they can locate him when the need arises after he has been released from custody.
NPP supporters at EOCO’s head office started cheering up when the vehicles arrived.

NEWS UPDATE : EOCO Picks Up NPP’s Dennis Miracles Aboagye at Kotoka International Airport
The Economic and Organised Crime Office has apprehended Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a prominent member of the NPP Communications Team, in a dramatic swoop at the Kotoka International Airport.
Officers of EOCO, supported by Immigration officials, detained Mr. Aboagye on Sunday, July 12, 2026, before conveying him to custody.
Sources indicate that the arrest stems from alleged corruption-related infractions during his tenure as Chief Executive of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCC).
In an immediate response, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong condemned the development and raised serious procedural concerns.
“Officers of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), with the help of Immigration officers, arrested Dennis Miracles Aboagye at the airport and took him into custody. Since then, they have denied his lawyers access, and his whereabouts have not been disclosed, with no charges preferred,” the statement said.
The NPP characterized the action as an exercise in political intimidation rather than a bona fide law enforcement operation.
The party underscored that Mr. Aboagye has been among the administration’s most outspoken critics, particularly on the scourge of illegal mining, galamsey, and noted that he had declared his bid for an internal party leadership position just hours before his detention.
Demanding due process, the NPP called for Mr. Aboagye’s immediate release, or alternatively, that he be formally charged and arraigned before a court in accordance with the 1992 Constitution.
The party further urged EOCO to permit unfettered access to his legal counsel and family, insisting that his constitutional rights be upheld without compromise.

It was a profound honour and a moment of great pride to unveil two monuments at Burma Camp in Ghana constructed by the Government of Rwanda to honour the heroic and exceptional courage of Ghanaian peacekeepers who were part of the UN Assistance Mission for Rwanda (UNAMIR) during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi which claimed over a million lives.
Rwanda's Minister of Justice, Dr. Emmanuel Ugirashebuja and I led our two nations to unveil the permanent monuments and lay wreaths in honour of the memory of all those killed during the genocide.
The Government of Ghana highly commends the Government and friendly people of Rwanda for constructing these two significant monuments at Burma Camp as an enduring symbol of their appreciation and eternal remembrance of the leadership and sacrifices of the Ghana Armed Forces to protect Rwandan lives.
The permanent monuments serve as a befitting tribute to the rare bravery and humanity of Ghana’s peacekeepers led by Major General Henry Kwami Anyidoho who stayed behind when other countries left and risked their own lives to protect the Tutsis.
Many more thousands would have been killed but for their rare courage and the extraordinary decision of the Government of President Jerry John Rawlings not to withdraw our troops as other governments did.
Major General Henry Kwami Anyidoho had earlier received Rwanda’s highest national award for bravery from President Paul Kagame.
God bless the Government and amazing people of Rwanda for being a nation that shows gratitude and that does not forget.
May these monuments remind us of our unfinished task in making the world a better place and may humanity win the war against genocide, hatred, bigotry and division.
For God and Country 🇬🇭 🙏🏾
