I suspect the there is a strategy behind the abductions of citizens that Kenyans are missing.

The abductions of activists are used to test the mood of the public and gauge the importance of the person. If Kenyans don’t protest, an abduction often escalates to murder; if they do, and their anger threatens stability, the person is released.

Essentially, when someone is abducted and you remain silent, you have condemned them to death.
