unfortunately for my husband, I am once again firing up the janky cold war-era claymation christmas specials that shaped my psyche
my children will inherit this burden
Today is Lazzie's 25th birthday. She is the oldest little blue penguin in the world! In the wild, life expectancy is less than ten years. It's less than 20 in managed care. The excellent care that she receives from Team Bird has certainly extended her life!
News Orleans will always owe Paul Tagliabue a debt of gratitude for how he managed crisis in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. He loved the passion, spirit and culture of NOLA and south Louisiana.
Michel and the kids went skiing up in the NW yesterday. I’d love to be with them, but it didn’t work out.
Jenni, Frank, and Beau suggested the Quarter for Mardi Gras Day, which I had yet to experience, so I figured I’d see what that’s like. The plan was to go to Frank’s studio to be DJ Stevie G, but Life rarely goes as planned, especially with ALS, or on Mardi Gras day.
We ended up walking in the Saint Anne parade for a few hours. There’s so much joy and love here in Nola. AND, turns out that I was overdressed with my jacket and gloves, so I went skins.
Thank you to all the wonderful people of New Orleans.
Something sad about Joann Fabrics shutting down. It's weird. It's just a fabric store. Thread. Needles. Crafts. It always has that kind of cinnamon-type smell that makes you think of craft fairs.
I think it's sad in this peculiar way because it's a store your mom and grandma went to. It's not at the front of culture trying to conquer the latest trends. It just kind of meek and old fashioned.
Even if the ladies who cut the fabric were always the grumpiest people on planet earth, it still just makes you kind of sad.
I have no desire to work now. I had five days off in a row where I dined at a feast and was entertained at a cinema. I have flown too high to return to a laptop.
