This all sounds good unless you live in a rural community like I do. We’re at the mercy of county government that has proven unequal to the task of making decisions that benefit its residents. Our water is deplorable, city buildings are literally falling apart and instead of wisely spending a large grant on county infrastructure, the county genuses built an airport believing it would attract small jet traffic to the Masters once a year. They didn’t build the runway long enough and we have no hotels and three Mexican restaurants. It’s counties like ours that are the target for data centers. We have the land and a lackluster governing body that can’t see the future through the false promises. The county has indicated they are ready and willing for a data center 2 miles out of town. Meetings commence next week. Rezoning approval submitted.

Someone needs to step forward to help the owner navigate the legal and yes, the emotional complexities of this situation. Hopefully, he has a whip smart attorney and/or family member coming alongside him. There’s a lot going on here and you can bet ASU isn’t dealing beyond its own self interest.
