@BSmithBenS It must be deeply depressing to wake up each morning to discover nothing you claimed was true is true. Unfortunately, nothing will dissuade such people from getting all their "facts" from Xitter & FB.
@DonA50398021506@aaronsmith (Noting that I'm not a fan of the term "net zero"), CC & energy transition are two issues that are important to the generations who now form an electoral plurality, millennials & gen z. ON are merely cannibalising LNP's core constituency of baby boomers & much of gen x.
@JakeMarcusW@aaronsmith Yes, "her voters". But they're not the people who decide federal elections. Labor won 76 seats just from metropolitan electorates. Its a demographic brick wall of young, educated voters. Like many politicians of her generation, Hanson hasn't given them a second thought.
@KeithBowker@aaronsmith The problem is that Gina bankrolls lobby groups whose ultimate goal is to excuse billionaires & centimillionaires from having to pitch in to fund anything. She's become very public about it. Now she's backing Hanson ... for the same reason.
@overliblab@aaronsmith Gina flogs everything she digs up overseas, ie to China. That's who made her rich. And Pinhead Ralph Babet's boss is the same, stiffing Australian workers while hiding his nephew in luxury in Europe. Then they drape themselves in a flag to dupe self-selecting "patriots".
@Steve94743668@aaronsmith The AHA has given even more to the Liberal & National parties. Its worth noting the bulk of Labor funding comes from unions, groups that represent workers. A bit different to being funded by a billionaire who quite transparently represents no-one & nothing but her own interests.
@aaronsmith She's following Dutton's Gambit: surrounding herself with advisors who always agree with her & only speaking to media who won't ask challenging questions. I'm sure it'll work out better for Pauline than it did Peter. π
@TheKennyDevine@LyndaFrench19 Given a free airplane by a billionaire (out of pure generosity, something said billionaire is famous for π), she wonders why a journalist asks about her flying to a private fundraiser at taxpayers expense? A smart person would've expected the question & been prepared for it.
@steve_Macka@TheKennyDevine Lol. Millennials? Oh, you mean the people who now decide elections in Australia? The people who delivered 94 seats to Labor? The people who give Pauline a personal approval in the minus 50s? Pauline hasn't noticed this new reality & even if she did, she's incapable of adapting.
@CraigSarg73@TheKennyDevine@MisinfoFact She's falling into the same trap Dutton did: only talking to allied media & surrounding herself with people who can't change her mind or correct her deficiencies. These things did not end well for Peter, in case anyone needed reminding.
@TheKennyDevine@traverselife People like Hanson don't learn. The defeat of Dutton & the resulting landslide to Labor has important lessons for all politicians, especially conservative ... or in this case, reactionary ... ones.
@strangerous10 Unless Libs, Nats or ON do a complete 180 & start developing policies focused on (benefiting) younger & metropolitan voters, there's no path to winning govt. They're arrogantly & willingly blind to Aust's shifting demographics. I mean, c'mon. Tony Abbott? π Barnaby Joyce? π€ͺ
@berniemcc2013@strangerous10 Its funny you should say that. Tony Abbott was the man who demonstrated that the Coalition can't be trusted on Medicare. Personally, I doubt the Libs'll make it to 2028; their most important institutional supporters, media & mining billionaires, have obviously switched horses.
@Grant7606817873@strangerous10 Generational voting patterns are complex. But the shift underway now is huge & conservative politicians are still designing policy around a generation that, to put it bluntly, is evaporating. There's no longer a path to winning govt without winning the bulk of younger voters.
@BenWill8254@strangerous10 Unions are funded by millions of Australian workers. That's whose interests they represent. Gina is funded by a huge inheritance. She represents no-one's interests but her own. She only bankrolls things that benefit billionaires. And workers don't need help figuring that out.
