"My name is Boitshepo Khunou (22). I am a farmer👩🏾‍🌾🐖from North West Rustenburg, in a village called Luka. I am also a student at the University of Limpopo, studying Agricultural Economics👩🏾‍🌾💵. My farm, Bless Piggery Farm🐖🐖, is situated in Bokone under the Bafokeng Farmers Union. I was born into a family where farming is the main activity; therefore, I started my own farm in 2020, where I am rearing pigs.

Since I was born and grew up in a family that was in the farming business, doing farming was not a difficult thing for me. In my upbringing, my dad taught me to farm🐖🐄 🥬, and this is when I started to be interested in knowing more about farming and the impact of farming on our economy. Then I started doing my own research📕 and developed an interest in doing farming as I also saw that there was a gap in the market; that's when I started my own farm.

What I can say to young people who are passionate about farming 👦🏾👩🏾‍🌾🫶🏽is to do their own research like I did and to engage with other farmers. Always seek knowledge and, most importantly, apply that knowledge to your farm🐖🔥🔌. Be patient and understand that farming is generational, thus you will not see results quickly; just persevere and master your thing. You also need to understand that you cannot do farming alone; you need other farmers to grow🔥🫶🏽. If you can—partner with others who have the same hunger and goals as you, you will see great results.
