The Writing is on the Window
The booksellers at Blackwell's at Westgate want to know what you're reading this summer. Let us know by writing the name of the book and the author on the window.
Ask a bookseller in the shop for a special pen and add yours!
Leaving the shop tonight a woman stopped me in the street to say how much this message had meant to her as she deals with the terrible experience of her husband’s near death from C-19 💔 - quite a moment of pause. Thanks to @MackJagee for brilliant window writing 😍,
RT pls.
In view of yesterday's announcement, today Our Bookshop will be open for extended hours... 10am to 4pm.
We will be staffed throughout lockdown for phone and email orders. Deliveries will continue.
Not going to lie, having the rug pulled out - from all of us - for the second busiest month of the year is seriously going to hurt. https://t.co/MTA3gQyw0f Whatever, it clearly needed to be, so people, despite our clown of a Prime Minister please abide. The Dude would.
Controversially I am now going to suggest everybody panic/drunk buys books https://t.co/YQxe7BSti9 (other fabulous indie bookshops available) @IndieBookshopUK has a map x
So I'll be closed from Wednesday until I'm told I can reopen. Now would be a good time to support my new online shop: https://t.co/ftqSvLODMy. Thank you.
Open usual hours until 5pm Wednesday!
From Thursday you'll be able to collect a phoned, messaged, or online order from the shop. We'll also offer home delivery of local orders. Tweet, message, Facebook, email, phone your orders to us!

Gutting to hear that bookshops are going to close their doors for what would be one of the busiest months of the year. More than any other sector, indies have blown us away with your energy, creativity and resolve in the face of these challenges. We are behind you.
Utterly devastated we'll have to close 😔for our shop, for other bookshops & independents, for the country. For all of the miserable troubles COVID has brought us all.
To close "non-essential" retail before Christmas - I don't have any other words. Just utterly devastated 😔
Feeling so for bookshops in fully locked down parts of the country. I ordered some goodies from @Bookishcrick and they just arrived in the post. If you can, why not seek out an indie bookshop in lockdown that you can support with an order - I’m sure every little helps.
there's an old lady who's been selling books to us for as long as anyone can remember because no-one is able to say no to her
she crushes the will to resist like a rampaging visigoth in a shawl
