@johnsaponaro David Stearns didn’t ruin the Mets, he exposed the real issue: constant FO turnover built a Frankenstein roster of old draft picks & bad contracts.
Only way out: Total rebuild. Keep Soto, shop the rest. I'm not defending Stearns, but firing him just restarts the cycle.
Stearns has been bad running the Mets. But now there’s a group of older fans, who have seen decades of bad baseball, claiming Stearns “ruined the Mets,” as if they were some model franchise before his arrival. All bc their favorite players are gone. 55 year old 5 years olds. #LGM
@DanBartels2 It’s not ok to make a decision have way through both of their first full seasons actually lol to think he’ll be better or admit he’s been better are all different things
@NFLFrascella Yeah that’s horrible team building and would have ruined any real chances of winning over the next 5 years so luckily you weren’t able to do that lol
@TheMetsX You wanted him to build a farm that could not only produce big leaguers but also replenish itself and maintain all within 3 years? Got ya lol
@jovialgentleman@TreIindor20 All are short term players deals(sans Soto) for a reason though because he builds his team organically and that takes time/ opportunity. So it’s not his team, cohen wanted him to clear books and build young, that’s what he’s doing, just not working in short term way they hoped.
