If you think Fagradalsfjall is hard to pronounce then you must have missed eruption of Eyjafjallajokull which brought both flight and pronunciation to a halt for weeks in 2010 🤣

In 1975, women of Iceland went on strike for equal rights. 90% of women walked off their jobs & homes, shutting down the entire country. The men could barely cope. Five years later, Iceland elected first female President. Now Iceland has the highest gender equality in the world.
The new volcanic lava crack suddenly opened up only 200 Meters!!! from the tents of the rescue squads. Notice their cars at the edge of the burning lava flow.
The eruption is small and the volcanic activity has somewhat decreased since yesterday evening. The eruptive fissure is appr. 500 - 700 m long. The lava area is less than 1 km2. Lava fountains are small and lava flows are currently a very local hazard. #Reykjanes#eruption
Currently, gas pollution is not expected to cause much discomfort for people except close up to the source of the eruption. The gas emittions will be monitored closely. #Reykjanes#eruption
Fagradalsfjall is about 30km south-west of Reykjavik, on Reykjanes peninsula.
It has been patiently waiting its turn for around 800 years, which is a long time to wait for anyone other than #Volcanoes and #Borders
