this petition is important - the data centre proposed in Longformacus is in totally the wrong location - please sign and share.

Our Caithness, Sutherland and Ross MSP David Green made his first speech as an MSP today.
His speech focused on access to healthcare in the far north and the memory of the late Jim Wallace.
Sad to learn of the death of Michael Meadowcroft, former Liberal MP for Leeds West. Condolences to his loved ones, he was a Liberal to his core and a man of substance.
one of the reasons I love where I live - neighbourliness & community-minded folk abound. Polish chocs from our neighbours - we looked after their cat while they drove supplies & vehicles to Ukraine with Duns Rotary (as you do). Slava Ukraini! 🏴❤️🇺🇦
35°C in late May. Records broken. The country woefully unprepared.
@EarlRussellLD, Lib Dem Energy and Net Zero spokesperson in the Lords, on why this country cannot afford to wait any longer.
A clear demonstration of why further, formal inquiry is needed on this matter. And no, it can’t simply be swept aside. The SNP has been the party of government since 2007. The propriety of this party in government is a concern for all of Scotland.
This is a concern for the majority of rural communities in the Scottish Borders . I know our Community Council just outside Kelso has concerns for any large scale future developments and discussions will take place soon .
3/ the reality is this data centre plan for Longformacus is totally unsuitable for this location , extraordinarily large industrial development in totally the wrong place.
Meetings for the data centre take place in early June - I will be attending and making my views known.
2/ the timing related to today’s announcements of the massive data centre proposal for Longformacus is very unfortunate - the proposers say the site is necessary to access renewable electricity - but the Windshiel developers Alerion Ltd say they are not connected (literally).
just back from the public exhibition at Duns Volunteer Hall about the proposed Windshiel wind farm - reserving judgment until I’ve seen more details later in year-initial reaction is that there is high visual impact but let’s see how the developer responds to public reaction. 1/
Can't remember a more powerful first Holyrood speech. @duncdunlopwas ex-CEO of @whocaresscot on @NicolaSturgeon's failure (as he sees it) over 'The Promise' to children in care and the care-experienced. Passion, frustration, a call for action.

important report detailing the economic value to Scotland of Net Zero industries and services. Tackling emissions isn’t just scientifically necessary, it makes economic sense. This isn’t a “belief system” or debating point any more- it’s time for real practical action.
Net zero industries in 🏴 Scotland:
- contribute £10.2 billion in Gross Value Added
- support over 105,000 jobs
New report: green sector = 4.9% of total economic output - more than double that of agriculture
'The personal and societal cost is tragic'
New Scottish Liberal Democrat MSP Duncan Dunlop gave his maiden Holyrood speech yesterday.
@DuncanLibDem made a passionate call for more support for care experienced young people
yes, climate science is based on evidence, not belief. Now we need politicians to fully address this and get behind the positive solutions & actions that exist, and put an end to the divisive rhetoric of belief. Get real folks, for the sake of next generations. #climatechange
This article says climate change is “believed to have played a role” in the UK's extreme heat this week.
As a climate scientist, let me fact-check that.
First, climate change is not a religion. No belief is required. It is about evidence.
And the evidence has been crystal clear for more than two decades: climate change is making heat waves hotter, longer, more frequent and more dangerous.
In fact, science has advanced far beyond saying climate change merely “played a role.” Today, we can quantify how much more likely and how much hotter climate change made a specific event.
Here's the bottom line:
Climate is changing. Humans are responsible. And we are experiencing the impacts now. That’s the bad news.
The good news is that solutions already exist, and the majority of people care - 89%, around the world!
But meaningful action depends on helping people understand not just what is happening: we need to know how it affects our lives (this heat wave being example A today) and what we can do about it.
That’s the opportunity this reporting missed.
