Shoutout to Starman, in which Carpenter creates one of his two good female characters not played by Jamie Lee Curtis, and Christine, which has an incredible collection of old crusty guy character actors
@PetreRaleigh I think this is in fact the point of the movie - the characters are forced into the viewer's role of having a "read" on the central relationship, and are unable to resolve anything. Only the most blinkered characters (husband's therapist) have anything approaching certainty
@RobertSecundus really good read - i was glib about the ending at first bc i was thinking about it as a shallow callback but you're right that the starting over is central to their relationship - their love means endless wells of forgiveness and necessarily forgetting
