These 6 percent are not evenly spread across the countries. They tend to be overrepresented in the most visible major cities, capitals, and downtown areas, and often turn the areas where they live into something similar to large voluntary ghettos with very distinct safety profiles.
Malaysia did at least one good thing. It expelled Singapore and made it an independent country against the wishes of Singapore's leadership (that is, the same arrogant and corrupt Lee Kuan Yew who is naively presented as the father of Singaporean wealth). Of course, having little or no low-productivity agriculture, along with sitting on the world's most important sea route and being mostly Chinese, made everything else almost preprogrammed, be it Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei, or Shanghai.
Of course. All people are racists, including you and me. People are incapable to unsee the racial parameters of others, just like they cannot fail to notice the sex of other people they encounter. There is not a single human being on this planet who is NOT aware of Bill Clinton’s, Barak Obama’s or Donald Teymp’s racial parameters, although very few know and care about their religious affiliation. In other words, many of us are already religion-neutral (religion-indifferent), and none color-neutral.
You don't have to. The USAID was not providing direct assistance, it was merely an intermediary between the US federal budget and various organizations, both government and non-government ones, and these organisations were supposed to deliver results. You could contribute to any of them, or you (or anyone) could set up an umbrella private fund to mirror and replicate the USAID recipient structure.
@Ahhhhsing@MarioNawfal Exactly. It were elections where the ruling party and the incumbent president got soundly defeated. This is generally the most reliable indicator of the freedom and fairness of elections. Not 100 percent reluae, but most reliable of all.
Actually, Bill Clinton did in fact reduce welfare spending in 1996, although under a heavy Congress pressure. This episode demonstrated that most meaningful reforms can be carried out by those who politically were committed to the opposing ideals, because they would be more immune to the critics from their own electorate.
There was no "demise" of the Habsburg empire; it was technologically and bureaucratically quite advanced and definitely no less advanced than neighboring Serbia, Romania, and Bulgaria. The Habsburg Empire dissolved into several more nationally homogeneous countries once the central authority was weakened by the military defeat of the Central Powers in 1918.
They pretty much love themselves and their children. They never voluntarily give up their hefty salaries, bonuses, royalties etc. They never miss the opportunity to place their children at the best schools. They never refuse business class tickets if offered by event organizers. In short, they are liars.
@LarrisseNelson@vanmutoka1 Apparently, the only leader assassinated with the (admittedly modest) help of the CIA was the notorious Dominican dictator Trujillo. Surprisingly, this fact is almost erased from the collective memory :)
@vanmutoka1 Lee Kuan Yew invented for himself a position of "Minister Mentor", made his son Prime Minister, and his son's wife the CEO of the country's sovereign fund. To me, it means he was corrupted as hell and deserved no respect at all.
@mysteriouskat@elonmusk That's precisely the value of internet freedom. Elon Musk enabled you to watch this movie and to express your opinion about it, all free of charge!
@AlexanderPayton The case of the BBC is arguably worse than being state-owned. As long as the BBC is comfortably financed by what is effectively a mandatory, earmarked tax and remains free from direct government control, it might be more accurate to say that the UK is BBC-owned.
