This game, the game against Brighton at OT (4-2) the game against Chelsea at OT, the performance and win at Anfield, the performance against Arsenal on the opening day etc etc. we haven’t got anywhere near those levels since he left. All we do now is sit behind the ball.
Amorim is a very intelligent coach.
He understood that a system and a formation aren’t the same thing. You can change the shape without abandoning the principles.
What you don’t do as an owner or sporting director is tell your manager how to coach his team.
He literally said at United that his system could adapt to different formations. We just didn’t have the patience to see it through.
- Amorim made these players train with high intensity.
- Carrick shortened training sessions and dropped the intensity.
- Amorim got rid of Rashford and Garnacho because of discipline. He showed players their place and tried to bring standards back.
- Carrick brought Rashford back and starts him EVERY SINGLE GAME despite everything that happened.
- Amorim raised the physicality and fitness levels of these players.
- Carrick didn’t even make them run in pre-season and these players are running less than literally EVERY opponent.
Michael Carrick has DESTROYED literally every bit of progress made over the last 2 years. I was a big advocate for him getting the permanent job, but man… WHAT A WASTE OF EVERYONE’S TIME.
The quicker people realise Casemiro was the one who carried us last season, the better. Scored so many decisive and game state changing goals from his shear brilliance in set pieces.
A huge miss. He papered over many cracks.
@FrankEra_ You get him gone now and wilcox goes with him , get in naggelsmann and let him start drilling the team in the next 3 weeks.
You wait it out , we will give spurs their first win and lose to atletico, carrick is tactically inept and has favourites.
No energy, no chemistry, no excitement, no ambition. This is the worst start to a season since Moyes. It's unacceptable and lucky deflections at the end just hide the truth
Carrick out. Zero excuses.
Manager and players are absolutely clueless and should be putting 5 past Fulham. Lucky deflection from another long range saves a point. Lammens and Mainoo the only players as per usual that can hold their heads high.
Brighton's recruitment strategy has to be studied.
From the coaches down to the players, they've been so smart with their dealings over the recent years. Fantastic. 👏
Carrick inherited a team that was used to high intensity, hard work and resilience. Amorim did a lot of culture work, and one thing he clearly drilled into the players mind is effort & that short-term results will suffer for the greater good.
They basically learned not to be defeated by ups & downs, and Carrick took that team over, focused on short-term results which creates a lot of momentum on top of those foundations.
Carrick was hired based off the work that he done, which was play for the short-term results. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel, and do what got you the job in the first place, and stop this 'I want United to be the PSG of England' nonsense.
You're not that guy.
Does Carrick realise he's managing United not Boro? "We'll take the positives and move on"...4 points from 12 is abysmal and the false 9 plan is laughable. He's acting like we're a mid table club in the championship and we try again next week.
@ZaidBalll Well he is being played completely out of position
He and mbuemo both were signed for amorim system as inner 10s and they were working crazy good. Ineos decide to ditch a project and go back to old ways well here we are
